  1. Lol need more of those “it” like players like 1983 World Series MVP Rick Dempsey? Did the Braves not have any “it” players? That Acuna guy is not bad lol but are they sitting at home? Dodgers had zero “it” players too? Was Ron Swoboda an it player in 1969. Your arguments are not convincing. Maybe being a race horse aficionado leads you to over value that an “it” , a “star” is necessary to win .. applies to horses, not baseball.
  2. You are a superstar, sir!! Thanks, my memory is not so hot anymore lol His was right on the brink of free agency ..the game has changed since then in timing and acceptance of offers https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/1997/05/04/mussina-orioles-agree-on-extension/0319bf86-653a-4098-8428-19ca2b994267/
  3. Exactly right!!! Thanks so much! https://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=3844701
  4. Matt Wieters, Mike Mussina are two I remember lots of talk about early extensions
  5. Am i mistaken but was Adam Jones the only young star extension that has been done? https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bal-adam-jones-agrees-to-sixyear-855-million-extension-with-orioles-20120526-story.html
  6. Yeah one of those “stars” , Cal or Eddie, was the MVP in the Series in 1983. Oh no, wait, that was Rick Dempsey.
  7. Well.. Kimbrel’s price just came down a few million lol
  8. Maybe a few more appearances like last night reins his price in a bit! Lol .. Phillies fan board would give about 3 dollars this morning lol.
  9. Thus Sig Mejdal’s hold all your own prospects philosophy lol ..but no team can do that in free agent era.
  10. I am sort of too, but if we had a similar situation right now, I would be fine with it. I was a huge advocate at the time in 2014 offseason of giving Cruz the 4th year .. PED usage or no PED usage lol … him rolling over backwards at home when Hardy slid in was worth it!! Lol
  11. Great list, thanks!! It would be interesting to break down the WAR as Oriole vs WAR somewhere else..the Arrieta, Machado, Hader, Walker, Heims etc ..
  12. Gunnar and Adley will be at the top of this list eventually
  13. Dang ….. Ortiz is too good of an analyst I guess too lol
  14. Umm Nelson Cruz says hello? Andrew Miller at deadline? And losing Nick Markakis to Travis Snider? 2013 offseason was WAY WAY better than 2014 offseason
  15. I think a bit of an upgrade replacement from Gibson and a bullpen veteran (along with the usual dumpster diving, look what we found , oh it’s Danny Coulombe type search) will do just fine. I would love another veteran bat though too. A Nelson Cruz type. I will be happy if it is more ambitious too.
  16. Pretty sharp! Have Angelos take the PR heat and hope he gets more !! And you get to be the good owner lol
  17. Yes …. maybe Tanner McDougal or Norge Vera (whose star has fallen due to injuries since signing as Cuba free agent in 2020) Tanner McDougal- 23/30 prospect “Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 50 | Changeup: 45 | Control: 40 | Overall: 40 Few players helped themselves more at the inaugural MLB Draft Combine in 2021 than McDougal, who had an inconsistent senior season as a Nevada high schooler. The son of Mike McDougal, a right-hander who reached Triple-A in the Orioles system, he parlayed two shutout innings and impressive pitch metrics at the Combine into an over-slot $850,000 bonus as a fifth-rounder. After a brief pro debut, he blew out his elbow and had Tommy John surgery in October 2021. McDougal had a 90-96 mph fastball with quality induced vertical break and high spin rates before he got hurt, and he ran his four-seamer up to 97 during instructional league last fall. With his projectable 6-foot-5 frame and the track record of pitchers adding velocity after elbow reconstruction, his heater could sit in the mid-90s in the future. He also showed he had regained the feel for his upper-70s curveball and low-80s slider, both of which can exceed 3,000 rpm, though they can blend together. McDougal's changeup lags behind his other pitches but can show promising fade at times. He does pitch with effort and will need to smooth out his delivery to provide consistent strikes and reach his ceiling of a mid-rotation starter. The White Sox love his competitiveness and the way he attacked his rehab. “
  18. Their deal includes an Os matching provision ? I wonder how a srrounding the stadium development deal would be shared or if just an estimated cash value would flow to Ravens? So ,in that case, Bisciotti is rooting for Angelos lol
  19. Cedric hopefully will really strengthen in rehab these groin and thigh areas this winter .. guys that rely on their legs that have chronic thigh/groin injuries an go downhill verry fast .. he is 29 and heading to first arb year so hopefully he will have couple more excellent seasons but if he was 31 right now? Lot of concerns.
  20. Yeah .. like Adam Frazier .. (joke)
  21. And that could really hack off Steve Bisciotti !!! Who may then want to renegotiate lol
  22. I like him … a lot!! Thoughts about Kimbrel?
  23. It is interesting and may have some validity. It may also explain why better pitching teams win championships. Undisciplined hacking against a TOR type often proves disastrous.
