I wonder if the once in a long time phenoms career desire plays into this at all. We went through this with Machado who clearly preferred ss though 3b was the choice. Is Gunnar a better SS defensively than Jackson? I assume he must be but I am just asking as I don’t know the answer. Westburg is not my fav choice at 3b.. if Jackson and Gunnar were pick em at SS, then Gunnar 3rd , Jackson ss and Westburg 2nd would be my preference.

I hope so … but this injury , R adductor group injury, was the same one basically that recurred. Playing with this subsequently (if that was it) may well make the long term recovery more difficult. Adductor strains have a significant risk of chronic recurrences in high performance speed types going forward and he is not getting younger either. He will need a very specific recovery and strengthening rehab program in the offseason

If extensions occur like that.. GREAT! Doubt it though. Letting go of all current free agents is no brainer. Agree they may sign Kimbrel or maybe Jordan Hicks. Too much for the Robert trade though I like it imho. They may try different combinations of the Mountcastle , Urias, Mateo, Santander group with one or more of a Norby, Ortiz, Westburg group to see what it might bring re:pitching both ML and pitching prospects. I don’t think they will sign any of the starters you listed.. JA will see as too pricey .. Maybe Giolito or making a one year prove me deal to try to fix Severino. But I tend to nihilistic about Angelos and Os offseasons so I hope to be proven wrong.

Ambitious… no way John Angelos does this. Same as to the talk of signing Blake Snell or Sonny Gray. Way too rich!! Jordan Montgomery’s market price will also now be out of Os reach. Nope, the Os will at best add a Gibson replacement and will maybe sign a vet reliever or just do the dumpster diving bullpen signings or trade and hope they can catch magic again. Perhaps someone like Lucas Giolito or trying to fix Luis Severino and maybe relief help like Kimbrel or Jordan Hicks.
