  1. It’s very rare. I think it’s even rarer that we are two months into the season and Mateo has accumulated 1 WAR and is currently the fifth most valuable player on the team. That’s how good he was in April and how his defense has retained value even when his hitting stunk.
  2. It is not bad faith. That’s baloney. The major league team is incredibly successful right now and for the first time in years the organization actually has some real depth, not just a bunch of 4A slop at AAA. This is what depth looks like when the major league team is winning. Westburg is going to get his shot with the Orioles. I understand impatience to see this shiny prospect, but the Orioles are not treating Westburg poorly. That’s just baloney.
  3. But of course Mateo’s OPS is .665, not .300. I’m not a huge fan of Mateo and am not trying to rally others to his defense, but the amount of cherry picking in this thread is pretty amazing. Let’s be honest and look at what the players have done for the team as well as what they have not done.
  4. I like that song better. I actually like a lot of downer feeling music, but the first song you posted was pushing it for me. I like Gillian Welch, for example, but some of her songs are just so incredibly stark and dark that it doesn’t take much for me to OD on her music.
  5. The case can be made that the bullpen construction and use is the main reason the orioles are winning this year and it is why they won last year. It is definitely not an old school approach, but it has worked.
  6. They sound like they were a really popular act for civil war era funerals.
  7. His walk rate at AAA this year is about 3.5 times higher than the numbers you listed for pre-injury. Definitely not the same guy.
  8. 2 for 2 with 2 RBI at the end of the second. The opposing starter has already been knocked out of the game.
  9. Frobby meant 100 times per year.
  10. And then Irvin up when a starter is needed, I presume.
  11. I think “negative” is a generous adjective to use to describe the posts. But I hear you.
  12. That is not the definition of online trolling. That might be what you call trolling, but the definition of trolling is posting inflammatory things to draw a reaction. That’s what he did in this and other threads. He mixed in a few real opinions, granted, but the post I referenced was a ridiculous post with the purpose of getting a response. I do not believe it was the person’s legitimate opinion. It was so ridiculous that Frobby asked if it was satire.
  13. Very true. But I'm partly thinking about how McDonald uses video and stats to break down the game in ways that Palmer does not, not just schtick. The content of the color commentary is actually a bit different IMO. P.S. Palmer has a very nice broadcasting voice. Smooth.
  14. I'm sure he keeps track of these things and is working on new quips all the time. I also suspect that the O's broadcasts are getting his best material from his LSU Tiger broadcasts. I love Jim Palmer in the booth, but I do think that overall McDonald is better. I think it would be more noticeable if Palmer was not a Baltimore Orioles Hero. It's important to note that I'm comparing a 77 year old Jim Palmer to a 55 year old Ben McDonald. It's amazing that Palmer is still crushing it at 77.
  15. Two hits already tonight. It feels like the ROY campaign is about to get going. Knock on wood.
  16. Moose had to be joking! Right Moose? All the old timers must remember SportsGuys vacations back in the day. Fun times!
  17. Oh Frobby, just wait until you taste the sweet, sweet nectar of a downvote. You're gonna love it. It's going to be like one of the drug scenes in Wolf of Wall Street. I think you should start by downvoting all of Chelsea_Phil's posts in this thread. But seriously, @Chelsea_Phil, don't take this stuff so serious. You are upset about a pissing contest you got into on a baseball forum where you call yourself "Chelsea_Phil". I mean, come on. Don't be "Thin_skinned_Chelsea_Phil".
  18. He hasn’t really been the same since the injury last year.
  19. Elias was overheard saying his arm would play at second. The Orioles will work him into the infield rotation on his non-pitching days. Maybe a few starts in right field.
  20. Ahhh, more Frazier!!! Every thread is a Frazier thread.
