  1. Edited because I am apparently really, really dumb.
  2. Be honest...did you post in both of them?
  3. The Orioles aren’t even going to score a run this series. Humiliating losses in every game. Hyde and Elias will probably be fired on Monday. Adley traded midweek for a package of DR 16 year olds. Gunnar released. You get the idea.
  4. Holy crap. Sounds like the Alabama head coach was texting or chatting with someone who was placing bets during the game. Juicy specifics deep in this story. He was fired and I’m sure prosecutors in Alabama will go after him for fraud or whatever charges they can possibly apply. Didn’t seem to involve a gambling app, at least not in the known details as reported. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/alabama-baseball-coach-fired-the-same-week-ohio-and-new-jersey-halt-betting-on-alabama-games-153551979.html
  5. He has the eighth highest OPS in the Eastern League. I’m not pushing hard for a promotion right now, but his offensive performance has been excellent.
  6. The 26th man has been less valuable to teams because of the limit on the number of pitchers per roster. The 26th player mainly rots on the bench.
  7. Take that crap somewhere else.
  8. Maybe it’s a good kind of weird. Like maybe a novel analytic approach that has contributed to two surprisingly successful seasons (to date at least).
  9. Still has the lowest OPS on the team and second lowest OBP. Disappointing start to say the least.
  10. I think the Orioles may have some weird analytics voodoo going on with the roster. Like weird matchup specifics where they are even considering defenders and first up bullpen guys on the other team. Just a hunch.
  11. Elias is being way more aggressive than I thought he would be. We may get to see more prospects sooner than I thought, but they may be used strategically.
  12. Batting cleanup? But, but, but Hyde hates Stowers! The Orioles have written him off!
  13. I was stunned the Orioles promoted Ortiz. Elias is being more aggressive than I thought he would be...and of course I love it like all of you. What a fun start to the season.
  14. Oh yeah. I was in full on dummy mode!
  15. Ok. So I looked at the schedule before I had taken a sip of my morning coffee. I live in central time zone 85% or so of the time and the mountain time zone the rest of the time. I just flew from central to mountain time zone last night. When I “did the math” to adjust start time for time zone I went backwards and thought it was a 3:30 central time zone start (Detroit is central, right)? Long story short, I’m an idiot.
  16. Why all day games for the series in Detroit?
  17. Really? The Orioles rank 7th in all of MLB with a .778 OPS against left handed pitchers.
  18. That is incorrect if you are talking about Peter Angelos. He was very cozy with a lot of baseball writers and, for example, frequently gave Tom Boswell quotes. Boswell had an interesting column many years ago detailing Peter Angelos' "divorce" from the media. Angelos tried to me Steinbrenner light and it didn't work out.
  19. It’s obviously a very small sample size at this point, but his defense so far has been pretty spotty. Definitely not a Machado-esque defensive debut.
  20. Holy crap! I swear I’m not drunk but that is one messed up post.
  21. Curious…how many if y’all have been to a game at Camden Yards this year? I think inset if attendance by Oriole hangout we’d had increased? I live far away so not an option for me so far this year.
  22. What the heck are you talking about? You’re posting in an Orioles forum and are clearly an Orioles fan so I guess you stand for nothing and never will?
  23. Some of you guys are suggesting immediately sticking up to four more rookies on the roster. They are not going to do that because you could end up with a bunch of Gunnar's all at once. I think they will transition one or two rookies onto the roster the first part of the season (like Gunnar and Grayson now) and then one or two more rookies in the second half of the season or close to the second half (Hall and someone like Ortiz or Westburg). I don't think they are going to deploy them all at once and if you want to compete this season then that's probably a good strategy. I think it's important to be able to give the real prospects time to struggle as rookies. If four or so are struggling at once, then that would not be sustainable.
  24. Drastic changes? The team is on a 108 win pace. Everybody is not going to be hot at the same time. I don’t understand what some posters seem to expect from the season. The team is winning. I would leave the roster alone for a while minus the occasional bullpen change as usage dictates.
