  1. I think Irvin will eventually be in the Tides rotation so he stays stretched out as a starter. Wells to the pen.
  2. It’s offensive and stupid. You are playing arm chair psychologist with a sprinkle of a-hole. If you don’t see why your post is crappy then you need to take a long look in the mirror. If I told your family to piss off while important stuff was happening in your life you would find it offensive. Or at least should. Don’t be a d*ck about someone’s family. And if you make crappy posts about someone’s family you should expect some push back.
  3. Crappy post. Your opinion should piss off. What a total a-hole take.
  4. There's only one true baseball god.
  5. Well dang. I may have to reread the book after all of these posts.
  6. The "review" language you used in your post reminded me of this scene! Fun stuff. The book felt like the lie to me!
  7. The movie was a childhood favorite for me and I was in funky headspace when I read the book. I may have appreciated it more if I could divorce my feelings for the sappy movie, which I totally admit is sappy, from the experience of the book.
  8. He played great for someone with a severe hamstring injury.
  9. Ps. Did you watch Ted Lasso? If so, then you heavily borrowed that book review!!
  10. If that’s what you think, then you’re already dead inside. Just giving you grief. The main characters in the book are all pathetic. The line, “talent is not enough” works exactly opposite in the book. In the end, Roy is a total loser, a total Casey at bat. He literally strikes out!! And the alcoholic stupor where Roy and Kim Bassinger like character hit someone while drunk driving? Yuck yuck yuck. I loved the cheesy heroism, wounded soul redemption story of the movie. Maybe I’m misremembering, I read that book on a flight back from San Jose, Costa Rica, in 1994 after literally spending two months fairly isolated in the rainforest, but I found the book very dark and the characters had basically no redeeming values. I tend to like dark stuff, but sometimes I need a wounded hero type to redeem themselves. I hated, hated the book.
  11. Unless there are additional injuries, then Irvin will be starting in Norfolk in about three weeks. He’s insurance that they unfortunately had to use.
  12. The book is horrible. I literally threw it in an airport garbage can when I finished it. I was warned that if you love the movie, then don’t read the book. That was good advice that I did not follow.
  13. Holy crap that’s a good show.
  14. By the way, Cal being part of the ownership group was a major concession by Rubinstein to get the Ripkens to agree to this. I'm not sure how Matt Holliday manipulated the timing of the eclipse, but it is what it is.
  15. Incorrect. This is all driven by the Holliday family. Elias wanted to promote Holliday to start the season, but Matt Holliday said not until the Ripkens agree to let Jackson wear number 7. The Ripkens finally said yes a week ago, but then the eclipse was coming and Matt Holliday wanted to wait until after the eclipse happened. Man, this is all so obvious. I can't believe you didn't see it right away.
  16. I'm not sure Laurence Olivier could have fooled Jackson in that situation.
  17. 250 hits. You guys are such haters.
  18. Year? Jackson will do this by the All Star break.
  19. Too many what if’s to worry about this IMO. 2024 World Series run >>> than hypothetical five or six years from now. The Orioles may suck in five years and be on the verge of another round of rebuilding. The Orioles may be super glad to trade Holliday at that point. But we know they don’t suck right now and have a lot of young talent to integrate into the team and important roster decisions to make in the next year or so. Heck Boras might drop dead from a heart attack by then or retire. Way too many variables at play that far out. Just my two cents.
  20. Still on ML injured list. MLB doesn’t allow that kind of roster manipulation.
  21. That’s total bs!! Some posters would gripe about the lineup and bullpen usage even if they win the World Series in four games.
  22. My guess is pregame hamstring injury.
  23. Santander’s replacement in 2025 is looking great. I wonder how much playing time he’ll get on the MLB roster in 2024? Cowser is off to a good start and is the likely Hays replacement. As others have noted, kind of tough to see where Kjerstad plays as long as Hays is on the roster and Santander and Mullins are healthy.
