  1. Judge is gonna turn it around. Cole is coming back. They’ll undoubtedly make a big move by the deadline. The Yankees won’t be going anywhere. It was good to get 3 out of 4 while they're not firing on all cylinders. Orioles bullpen is very shaky. I can’t predict a division title unless some changes happen.

    Coby Mayo 2024

I agree with this. It’s a little confusing why they aren’t giving him more reps at either position. With Westburg, Henderson, and Holliday all presumably being every day players there is literally no where to put Mayo. It’s not even like he’s some kind of defensive asset at 3B.
  3. Yep, like I said…just using his bonk play as a reference. He will be my example for bad defense until I am dead…or until something else silly and memorable happens.
  4. Just personal preference, thats why the thread exists. I don’t want to have to laugh off bad plays. Im not sure Nelson Cruz would be a fun player to have on your team if he was playing the field every day.
  5. I wasn’t referring to him overall as a player. I meant that is the type of play that might happen with a -10 defense guy.
  6. Boring answer but I’m going with the average hitter, average defender. Everyone loves a great hitter but just wait til they have a DJ Stewart bonk on the head moment time after time and the offense won’t seem so great. On the other hand, Izturis was cool to have on the team until he came up to bat. Give me someone who will make most of the plays and won’t kill you at the plate.
  7. My gut feeling was wrong once again! I’m thankful I’m not a betting man
  8. Thanks for sharing! I think Mayo in the OF is a good idea. Westburg is proving himself capable of being an every day option at 3B. 1B is covered for now unless something unexpected happens with Mountcastle. All of the OF prospects are left handed so Mayo would help balance that out.
  9. I’m far more concerned about how many runs will be given up than how many they’ll score today.
  10. During the off-season I had mentioned in a couple threads that Kremer should be the 6th starter and two starters should be acquired. Anyone who engaged with me disagreed pretty vehemently but his performance so far this year is a good example of why I felt that way. Granted, he was a decent 5th starter last year so I totally understand why someone would’ve pushed back on that idea but he’d be great depth rather than a mainstay of the rotation right now.
  11. I mean, at this point you’ve really got to wonder what is going on. Norby has proven himself at AAA, there’s a need for a productive 2B (until Holliday can prove to be ready, not saying to send him down today but it’s looking ugly so far), and he hasn’t been traded yet. If I had to guess, he’ll be traded at the deadline this year.
  12. My guess is Elias doesn’t want to risk Norby going through a Holliday level stretch of abysmal play and ruin his trade value. Norby seems like a sure thing to be trade bait this summer.
  13. Hammer smashed face by Cannibal Corpse
  14. How are they going to utilize a guy with such bad numbers? Surely they won’t have him join the rotation after his rehab is up based solely on past success. I bet he gets shut down again before it’s over.
  15. I haven’t watched every single at bat, the ones I have seen have been bad. I didn’t check the EV on his hit, I’ve been corrected. It was technically a hard hit ball. Looked it like it squeezed through a hole in the infield to me, but 101 is technically a hard hit ball so I concede. I feel like reiterating, I think he’s going to be a very good player. Not sure why everyone here is so against being critical on someone who has hit worse than any active major league hitter in the same time frame. Isn’t it safe to just make the statement that Jackson Holliday has been bad at baseball? Sure he’ll be fine, but so far he hasn’t been. God forbid you say it out loud. I’m not even panicked about him as a player. Almost every rookie struggles in a similar fashion. They’re not all hyped to the degree that Holliday is though, so of course he will put under a different microscope.
  16. I mean, I have watched a good amount of his at bats. Weak contact or a strike out. His one hit was not hit hard, his walk came right after Paddack was noticeably rattled by the Westburg home run and his fly out to deep center-right was the first time I’ve seen him hit a major league pitch with any authority whatsoever. I’ll say I’m with everyone in the thread that he should be out there every day for a while and let him work it out. But let’s not put lipstick on this pig, he is doing extraordinarily terrible right now.
  17. I have high hopes from Holliday, but my near term expectations have gone down significantly. He doesn’t look to have a lot of control over his swing, his eye doesn’t seem great, and he is a defensive liability. Do I think he’ll have a great career? Yeah, probably. But he looks every bit 20 years old. Luckily the team is good enough to carry him. Not trying to be sour about him, it’s just quite surprising the level of terrible I have seen from him. I knew he wouldn’t be an all star out of the gate, I knew he’d have some struggles, but it’s hard to believe the amount of hype this kid has been given. Absolutely terrible. Again, small sample size and I think he’ll be fine in the long run…just not looking good at all right now.
  18. Hays in the lineup is fine with me, it’s not like Santander is hitting and Hays is better with the glove. I’m a little bit more bothered at the incessant push to get Henderson in the lead off spot. He doesn’t really get on base. Put Rutschman there even if he’s slow, or even Westburg or Cowser. Even going back to Mullins vs RHP is a better option than Henderson and his sub-.300 OBP.
  19. Hays breaks out of his slump today, Im feeling it!
  20. I’ve forgotten he was still on the team lol
  21. Hate to say it but I agree. He needs a breather.
  22. I think it’s no secret that Burnes will be elsewhere this time next year. He knows that, the organization knows that, I hope most fans know that. Just because he’s currently on the team doesn’t mean he has to be some kind boot licker.
  23. Disappointing start to his career to put it lightly, but he’ll be fine. I didn’t get to watch the game tonight, but in the previous games he’s looked completely overwhelmed and judging the 3 Ks tonight, I imagine it was more of the same. Hopefully he gets the first one out of the way soon, I can’t imagine the pressure he is feeling. Extremely young, highly touted, straight to a playoff caliber team, son of a well known player…I don’t doubt that the struggles are in his head right now. But good lord, what a train wreck these first 3 games have been.
  24. “The milkman always delivers” What did I just hear lmao
  25. Not terrible, I’d prefer Mateo over Urías. Urías looks a mess this year. If you’re going to have Adley play as much as Hyde does, he’s gonna need a lot of days at DH. The only thing I’d change is maybe putting Cowser in CF, but it’s not a big deal.
