  1. Bautista has lost the strike zone and Ohtani is up...this is bad
  2. This, I get the thrust of the wapo article and it makes sense to care about some. But the bigger point to me is how many guys on a roster did the team develop vs how many did they bring in via major league free agency.
  3. Infielders are taught to throw the ball down (as their miss) vs up. Urias and Matteo and Odor made plenty of poor throws last year, Mountcastle was one of the league leaders in scoops. This year he’s not making plays he’s expected to make as a major league first baseman. Whether or not someone else is also screwing up, doesn’t actually change that reality.
  4. I suspect that the orioles are also frustrated with his defense at 1b. He’s missed a lot of scoopable throws. He wasn’t bad at it last year, but he’s hurt the team this year.
  5. Please don’t bring in cano for the 9th Hyde. You can make sure someone is ready, just in case, but bring in Irvin or voth etc

It might jibe with what he was talking about getting back to strength training. He basically had to shut down his strength program this offseason bc of his back
  7. Mountcastle as a RH platoon DH and bench bat has a role on a good major league team. I'm less enamored with him as the 3/4 hitter and starting everyday 1b
  8. Third baseman are supposed to try to make the play. If he didn’t try and mateo didn’t get it, you’d have been critiquing him for poor effort. He did what he was supposed to
  9. I’m over vavra in RF. Bring up Cowser or westburg
  10. I really liked the vegetarian taco at Vida Taco yesterday, plus they have elote.
  11. I think it’s a fairly good view into how the orioles view mountcastles current defense at first. Getting a read on santander makes sense. But back to back including when Ryan was at dh suggests more
  12. I usually bring my own food in, but went with my parents last night, taking advantage of the flash sale on tickets & decided to purchase food at stadium (disclaimer food prices were a few dollars more then you’d normally pay, it’s a stadium) Dinner - vida tacos right before first pitch line was long, but relatively quick and efficient elote - fresh cilantro scored major bonus points, nice little kick, three thumbs up. Would definitely have again chips and queso - slightly stale chips, lukewarm poorly distributed cheese, pass tacos - sw potato (veg), chicken - pickled radish on the sw potato and a nice heat. Chicken was also good (per my dad). Definite hit 3 beers - union/snakehead/bluemoon - expensive (but I’ve paid more - merriweather), line was quick/efficient. Major bonus points for all the local options. Big minus, I had to take two trips bc I was only allowed to leave with two beers at a time late game snack - boardwalk fries with old bay and malt vinegar - exactly what you’d expect overall a good experience with the food, less so with Grayson’s pitching
  13. Santander takes good routes, and he catches what’s hit to him. But he’s not fast or even average speed, which limits his defensive value. fwiw though, after a rough start to the season (he should not play left field), he’s actually at 0 OAA for the year. He was -5 last year.
  14. That section is now mostly sold out for this weekends series. Just another reminder that just because *you* aren't interested in something, doesn't mean you can dictate what other people are interested in. Personally, I remember Elrod tossing out wet towels to that section on hot days.

  16. Orioles have won 9/12 series. Rays have won 9/12 series.
  17. The difference in AB quality between Henderson and Matteo...I'd walk Henderson too
  18. Honestly Frazier has been playing pretty well, and had some of the teams best at bats in the Atlanta series. I’m not really convinced ortiz or westburg would provide that much of an immediate boost. I think the most obvious weakness the orioles have right now are the abs going to stowers, maybe Mountcastle
  19. Agree, it's significantly easier to find a pitcher who can get through a lineup 1-2 times, then 3. Just plan for it and build the pitching staff around it
  20. On day games in the summer? Absolutely yes
  21. If the leak is correct, it's like they put zero effort into the whole thing....how disappointing
  22. He was struggling badly when they sent him down. He started off hot, but then cooled considerably
  23. This is atrocious from Bautista
