  1. Greyson needs better command, especially of his non-fb pitches. But you can definitely get away with more in the minors. His pitches also aren’t getting the Oakland hitters to chase
  2. I've been on him, but Hays totally deserved that one. He's had a hard luck night
  3. Austin Hays is below avg defensively, if he's not going to hit above avg, he shouldn't be starting regularly (and he shouldn't be the 4th OF bc he probably shouldn't be in CF) McKenna is on the team to play defense and hit lefties...if he can't do either time for Dez Cameron
  4. Why not? It's an off night for Aberdeen. Cool that he wants to come down and watch.
  5. Right now he’s being pitched away a lot, and is going with the pitch. He’s also doing it very successfully
  6. Hays is a below average defender in left field, and it's a problem. Orioles need to face that reality and re-work their OF. Especially as currently none of them are hitting
  7. Vavra hitting for McCann is why Benboom is on the roster right now Of course might be nicer to have stowers hitting
  8. If Westburg can play a good defensive LF, the Orioles can move on from Hays. (I thought that would be Cowser, but he's struggling right now)
  9. If the Orioles weren't going to make Stowers the primary RF, with Santander mostly serving as DH, then this is the right move. I just don't understand why they weren't interested in him being the primary RF.
  10. I don't think they rate Stowers defensively to the point where he is a Hays replacement (and I think they overrate Hays defensively). I don't understand starting Vavra in RF instead of Stowers. Constructing a roster with 6 outfielders is rather silly. I will say, I'm glad they're giving Henderson at bats against lefties. It would be poor for his overall development if they didn't, and the only way he's going to get better is to get practice.
  11. Yes, I think this is the question. If they weren’t intending to play him, why have stowers on the team in the first place. But my guess is we get o’Hearn up in a few days.
  12. They’re facing lefties, so they want the right handed hitting McCann and Adley both in the lineup (potentially). Benboom gives you a catcher on the bench. That way you can pinch hit for McCann and not lose the dh spot (if Adley is dhing).
  13. They face a right handed starting pitcher. The next 4 games are all being started by lefties, which is why having a third catcher on the roster makes some small amount of sense for a few games.
  14. Having Stowers on the roster to sit on the bench makes no sense. He needs ABs. McKenna and Benboom don’t need at bats. If they sit on the bench 5/6 days it’s fine. My guess is Benboom gets sent through waivers though as soon as the Oakland series is over, and they want another left handed bat. Since they seem to want a left handed first basemen, and they don’t trust stowers to play of, I wonder if he gets 1b work at Norfolk
  15. Orioles need an OF upgrade (also the Oriole could easily put Urias in 5th if they wanted and Frazier 6th, they are choosing to hit Henderson 5th, and Henderson was up last year)
  16. How are you not sitting change up there if your Mullins (on the 3-1)
  17. control pitcher with no control isn't a great combo Also only having one run against this Yankees pitcher is frustrating. He's only got two pitched (FB/changeup)
  18. I think Vavra is probably a better OF defender then Stowers in terms of range. Stowers has the better arm...but Stowers has more offensive upside I'd think
  19. I like Vavra but the Orioles appearing to rate him above Stowers is certainly a choice
  20. Check out this thread for some good ideas, and to ask questions
  21. Come on Anthony, time to get into the swing of the season
  22. Irvin can apparently also serve as a backup first baseman
