  1. I do, too. Thing is; it’s not just for the sake of seeing a guy do a backflip. Though, I admit, when do you see a grown man do that? It’s that he’s winning and if he’s doing a backflip it means there was a great result.
  2. They are RH heavy so that’s a possibility, but I thought I remember seeing Wells is better vs RHB.
  3. r for reference as in Baseball Reference.
  4. No reason. And I like Mancini a lot, but as GM (or whatever title the decision maker has) I’m not signing him for his personality or the narrative behind him. I don’t want any part of that even to come into my thinking.
  5. Extending him at the time isn’t really hindsight. And I know that’s not your point. Plenty of us said coming off the two knee surgeries (congenital, NOT chronic) was the time to do it. They definitely waited too long if they weren’t going to get an extension done. That would have got them more quality at a minimum. Although, with Duquette, there are many who think he woulda screwed it up regardless. Remember, though, he was Executive of the Year at one point.
  6. It’s not as arbitrary as it used to be before they adopted some analytics as standards.
  7. I’ve said since the start of the season his stuff plays, but it makes no difference if he can’t execute. Even in a game like yesterday he only gave up one run, but he walked FIVE guys in 6 IP. The game before he gave up eight or nine hits. He was touching 97 again with good run and sink, but half the time he doesn’t know where it’s going.
  8. There may be something to that. He’s always joking around in the dugout, which is fine, if you’re game is fine. Otherwise, it seems like he’s more interested in having fun than in being good. This last part is of course, speculative, but at some point they won’t wait around for him to figure it out any more.
  9. Lol, looks like pops was right. He’ll Love hearing that.
  10. My dad’s a big Angels fan and he was not disappointed to see Heaney go. Former #1 pick they got from the Rays, he showed flashes but never any consistency. Of course, he’ll become CY with the Yankees.
  11. Gallo is a GG candidate in the OF. Cruz doesn’t play defense. And neither Schwarber or Soler are guys you want out there if you can help it.
  12. I’d rather he was getting regular starts in Norfolk. That way, if he doesn’t work out, then you transition him to the pen. It’s fine with the ML team, too, but just doesn’t or hasn’t lent itself to a regular routine.
  13. Craig Biggio (285) is second on the All-time list behind some guy named Hughie Jennings (287), but I remember a guy named Ron Hunt, second baseman for the Expos, probably because I had his card. Frank Robinson is number nine on the list.
  14. Granted, ownership probably doesn’t allow it, but there are GMs who could have pulled it off. Even if it wasn’t standard practice, the idea is to take advantage before it’s the walk year.
  15. Britton should have been moved after his incredible season. His value was never going to be higher.
  16. They released Cody Carroll??? He was going places! Apparently, Baltimore is not one of them.
  17. No, he isn’t. Like I explained to posters who wanted to axe Tanner Scott before he was even called up, if a guy can throw hard he’s going to get more of a look. Anderson doesn’t throw as hard as Scott, but he throws a lot harder than Eshelman.
  18. Not a huge market for 1B/DH types in general.
  19. Exactly. Anderson throws hard. There may be a chance Holt can bring out his best. Nothing to lose by finding out. Eshelman is a known quantity and the quantity is minimal.
  20. You’re asking the wrong question. Eshelman is a dime a dozen.
  21. I really don’t know where you’re getting this. There was a time Sisco was thought to be below average defensively, but when he left he had clearly improved and I preferred him to Severino. Severino is maybe one of the worst catchers I’ve ever seen. Sisco (-1 DRS) blocks the ball well, definitely improved his throwing, calls a decent game and his framing is also improved. Severino (-8 DRS) does none of those things well. Shoot, Sisco’s bat may have suffered due to his focus on defense.
  22. He sure doesn’t. And Anderson, while the results have been subpar he does throw hard. I’d like to see him have a little time w/ Holt to find out if they can get something out of him.
  23. How’s the defense coming?
  24. Anyone know how he did at Aberdeen?
