  1. The guy's slinging 99 MPH and it's all off-speed to O'Hearn with two strikes. That's respect.
  2. I hate how KB made that whole speech about how low J-Rod's SLG has been this year. Big jinx potential.
  3. Wait until Mike Baumann comes in to REALLY dominate.
  4. Outsmarted yourself, Gunnar.
  5. The RBI single by Santander was a potential DP ball that snuck through, as well. Kirby was legit tonight.
  6. G-Rod has had problems fielding his position throughout his career, hasn't he?
  7. Adley has been inside-outing pitches down and in and popping out a lot.
  8. Rangers roughed up Dylan Cease tonight.
  9. What's that, 16 pitches combined to Tony and Kjerstad?
  10. Neither ball crushed, but Santander is 2-2 as we enter the All-Star voting homestretch.
  11. I'd say it was a tossup. If Adley was on the big league team on Opening Day he probably would have won it.
  12. What do you have against Rodriguez? He's a pretty fun player on a team that's relatively inoffensive.
  13. Neither did the St. Louis Cardinals when we went in there, to be fair
  14. Double play and caught stealing have Kirby in great shape with pitch count.
  15. Faintly audible moos in Seattle on the Cowser catch.
  16. I mentioned this in the game thread, but I can't figure out Keegan Akin's role on this team. He's a failed starter who doesn't have the stuff to be a setup man or closer. His strength is that he can give you bulk innings out of the pen. He's TJ McFarland. Last night Akin was on five days of rest, and Irvin couldn't complete the fourth inning (not exactly something that should have taken Hyde by surprise). Seems like just the spot for Akin, right? But Hyde pitches Nick Vespi, Dillon Tate, and Matt freaking Krook ahead of him, with Vespi and Krook combining to turn a winnable 5-2 game into an 11-2 blowout. Akin pitches a completely meaningless ninth inning. Not only is Akin not first in line, he's not one of the first two lefties in line, so you can't say Hyde was scared off by the Rangers' righty bats. In 2022, Akin averaged around two innings per appearance pitching 81.2 innings in 45 games to a 122 ERA+. In 2023 the O's tried to make him more of a high leverage guy, averaging less than one inning per appearance and he was exposed to the tune of a 60 ERA+. He's bounced back this year, but after last night I don't know what the Orioles are doing with him.
  17. I'm not sure why Roch teased it the way he did, pretty ordinary stuff.
  18. I'm not an especially big Keegan Akin fan, but I'm struggling to understand how he was used tonight. He's not great but his ERA is under 4 and he can go multiple innings. Why are you throwing him after AAAA fodder like Vespi and Krook? Why wasn't he the first in line when Irvin predictably got knocked out early? It's a moot point because the offense took the night off, but why is he pitching in a 11-2 game but not a 5-2 game?
  19. Texas putting up a Krooked number.
  20. What's going on with Westburg? Had one of the worst at-bats of the year with the bases loaded last night and looks terrible at the plate tonight. He was so consistent for three months.
