  1. Villar could be an upgrade for several teams that are in wild card contention.
  2. Even if he is a decent pitcher, he is making $10M/year. He is a career 1 WAR pitcher who is having a good year but coming off a bad year. Considering the contract, he is not worth much more than the $4M+ or so they will be paying him. I assume Elias did his due diligence, made teams aware Cashner was available, and took the best deal he could find. You can't say it's a bad trade unless you can prove there was an offer on the table that was passed up.
  3. "I was wrong"? I am not familiar with this concept. ?
  4. I think if there was any chance of being a competitive team in the near future, Davis would be gone. In a lost season, there is no harm in keeping him around to see just how bad he gets. Maybe the daily humiliation encourages him to take a buyout that saves the O's a couple mil.
  5. Japan is said to be about AA level overall. Mullins might be over his head there.
  6. we should be trading our *old* assets for potentially overlooked value guys in other organizations who can pitch to a sub 3 ERA in the AL East.
  7. He is the type of guy we should be trading for. Why in the world would we trade him? If we are still rebuilding in 2022, maybe consider trading him then.
  8. He could be wrong about the cause. Anyway, I agree, the changeup is the key to being able to get out both lefties and righties. Very hard to get through the lineup multiple times without that third pitch. For a lefty like means, the changeup is even more important.
  9. Cashner pitches well enough to get some value back in trade. Villar plays well enough to get some value back in trade. We get a Wow offer for Mancini.
  10. Since hitting .275 on June 26, the O's won 2 of 3 vs CLE (including 2 by 13-0), 1 of 3 vs TB, and 2 of 2 vs TOR. The O's winning pct now stands at .307, putting them on pace to finish ahead of the 2018 and off the list of top 20 worst teams.
  11. I watched a bit. Unfortunately they didn't hit any balls his way until he had been shifted over to LF.
  12. Lowther has a strong resume as well.
  13. I wonder if there are any stats backing up the day game after a night game thing. Maybe the front office has decided platoon splits are more important and just as effective in getting rest.
  14. Are you being ironic? I truly cannot tell.
  15. At least he is batting 8th. Did he bat 8th even one time under Buck?
  16. +1, Villar too, and the team will be even worse off after they are gone. If Mancini is traded, you can pretty much guarantee the 1-1.
  17. You're still reading a lot into two wins. I happen to agree with you that the worst is over, but I am thinking more like .320 than .400 or .500 the rest of the way.
  18. Yeah, that's a pretty terrible pick. Just saying there are other guys as good as Mancini that also didn't make it.
  19. Looks to me that he was squeezed by Vogelbach (Mariners needed a rep, .900 OPS) and Pence (has had a great year for TEX). If you want to make it as a 1B/DH you really need to put up some numbers. Luke Voit has a stronger case than Mancini IMO.
  20. I enjoy wildcard's posts, but sometimes I wonder if he is just trolling the board. The sad thing is we could go .667 down the stretch (our pace over the last series) and we would still end up with only 78 wins!
  21. I would give Smith a B, not disagreeing with the assessment, just a function of lower expectations. I would give Givens and Castro F due to higher expectations. I wish there was a grade lower than F for the rest of the bullpen. Amazing that Hess could have a near no hitter on his resume and end up with an F. Yes, he was that bad.
  22. Lol, I think Tate is part of the scrap heap.
