  1. Perez makes every first base play a circus. He tried that vs. Astros and blew that same bare handed maneuver.
  2. We'll make it. That lead off homer on Tuesday by Gunnar is pretty much like tonight's scenario. We'll hold 'em regardless of what we score in 7-9th innings. That's my hunch.
  3. Got out of it. MLB-TV game day had that pitch before all the way inside the box. Nice to neutralize that bad call.
  4. The were students at Columbia. Most of The Special Guests went to form Five Chinese Brothers and did some touring. I met the OH member Tom Metlzer (aka Wesley Webster on here) 23 years ago when he moved from NYC to NC. We had a few bands together down there. Seek out the FCB version. It's probably better. It's on there on YouTube.
  5. This series is best 2 out of 3, right? Looking good for Norfolk right now. 4-0 in the 4th. But if Durham wins, they've on. They won game one.
  6. I'm glad I'm not an umpire. Some of those bang bang plays are just almost too close for the human eye to judge. I was an ump a couple of years in my teens. I enjoyed it for the most part. But there was on play when I was 16 or 17 and I umpired a game for Little Tar Heel League. There was a close play at 3rd and I called the runner out (a tag on an extra base attempt). The third base coach was one of my best friend's father. He wrote an editorial in the local paper the next day saying teen umpires should not be allowed. Luckily for me, lots of people wrote editorials defending me (and my character) the next week. The kind of junk I went through as a kid ...
  7. I noticed the same last night with Hays after his steal. Several times. Not the same level of concern here, but it reminded me of that.
  8. I posted that famous Rockwell painting of Brooks on Facebook yesterday as my tribute to him and there were several comments about people not knowing he was a lefty in writing (he was depicted signing an autograph in it with his his left hand). I remember reading in his memoir or another about him that he grew up that way, using that hand for a lot of things. I had forgotten about that, but there it is.
  9. Thanks. I was just wondering if he was being considered to be brought up to the O's pen later this week. But that explains it.
  10. I have loved Jim's commentary for years, but this year, Ben has really caught on with me and my family in a big way. We go around the house in our daily lives imitating some of his signature quips. My wife is from Louisiana, so she is especially fond of his humor. And we're lucky to have Kevin.
