  1. In earlier times, a guy from the fish food group named Trout probably would have piled it on sooner, but yeah ... Cabbage
  2. The grocery store's the super mart, uh huhLittle girls still break their hearts, uh huhAnd men still keep on marching off to warElectrically, they keep a baseball score That line seems so quaint now, like it's from the 1920s or something.
  3. I *love* it. It's a part of his swagger. I had all of the distinctive batting stances (Morgan, Yaz, Stargell) down when I was a kid in the 70s. Even some pitching wind ups (Palmer, Tiant, Marichal) I imagine I'd have added his stance to my repertoire had he played then.
  4. Lots of my NOLA friends have been talking about this for years. My wife grew up there and her parent both taught at UNO there, so I also heard about it from them. It's a wacky place. I finally looked it up recently.
  5. I could put up with this furniture ad about once or twice a game. It's the New Orleans version of the Baltimore area Antwerpen auto dealership ad.
  6. Though I'm a musician who occasionally tours, I did catch that part. I would think the majority of that money would go to Springsteen, the main expense.
  7. I've been to only one game thus far due to family schedule, but I am so thankful I got to see this one with my own eyes. First out of the game, right?
  8. I wasn't able to see O's games then where I live, so that's Chuck Thompson with the call, and his Go To War Mrs. Agnes (twice). Is that Brooks along with him on the color? Definitely a Southern accent, so guessing him. Edit: sounds like he does refer to him as Brooks just as the video ends. Missed that.
  9. I have the same VPN as the original poster. I had PIA for three years and for about 90 of the games this year, but about three weeks ago, it finally would not connect no matter what I did. I'm in Durham NC. So I tried NordVPN and that worked only one day, so I cancelled. Express VPN works for me consistently for me in the first ten days I’ve had it. But as someone said upthread, I use it on Firefox and it's the only browsing I do on that browser. So far, I have not needed to clear the cache. Where sometimes I get the "browser does not support auto video" prompt, I just click that box to get rid of it and click the arrow on the thumbnail of the video in the middle of the MLB-TV window. Knock on wood, but it's worked every time and both on my Mac mini (through my HDTV) and on my MacBook Air.
  10. Yep, Deep Depth as Earl called it. I had almost forgotten about that until you mentioned it. I think Earl had just gotten dentures around that time so it was hard for him to say without a lisp.
  11. This game and the three or four before it are perfect examples of why the run differential is so narrow. They win close games, but lose big when they do. In the end, they've done remarkably well in the win column, ie. best record in AL, which still blows me away with all of this in perspective. Starting with the Mets series to now, the run diff. is 35-34, with the losses with scores like 7-2, 9-2 and 7-6 (but were winning 5-0 at one point in that game).
  12. I had to shout at my wife dozing on the couch to wake her up for the 10th. “Hon, you may wanna see this!”
  13. With Felix, I think sometimes Adley should say to the batter: ”I have no idea where it’s gonna go” Get inside his head like Crash Davis. Great finish!
  14. Vespi and I have the same hair and beard. So why did I wake up looking like Joey Krehbiel?
  15. Looks like the guy from Creep. Probably wants to have a "tubby" with you.
  16. I hear ya. The one we have in our den (the same one I got when I was a bachelor 15 years ago) is staying where it is. I'm NOT moving it. Unless one of the daughters wants to take a stab at it. They're both stronger than me now. And one is taller.
  17. Thankful for that light weight of HDTVs now. And my, the prices have come down, too. I think the last two I got, I picked them up for about $125 to $150. I use 3 of them for large computer monitors. The one I got in '09 probably cost a grand.
  18. Yah, I bailed at 9:40 and it wasn't on, so happy so far with with FS1. The picture seems a lot clearer on this broadcast, higher resolution. Remarkable for me as this is on a 15 year old HDTV. Back when they were *heavy*.
  19. I'm just thankful I can see anything. I've tried three VPNs in four years and (knock on wood), I finally have one that seems to be getting it done the last few games. PIA worked about 90 games (after working for 3 years for me), then no-go. Tried NordVPN and it worked about a week. So now I'm using ExpressVPN the last few games. My situation tonight was just like those others who normally rely on MLB-TV online (Mac for me through our HDTV), ie I could log in, but no pregame was available and eventually no game at all. But I checked the MLB schedule and noticed it said FS1 along with MASN and the SEA broadcast. So I tried FS1 on my YouTube TV and it worked, with no VPN I might add. Normally, I'd expect to be blacked out as that TBS game earlier this week.
  20. There have been Fox and ESPN (and even Paramount) games to figure out how to view.
  21. I liked it at first, but it got too cute. Almost a parody within a parody. I craved dark, but not their kind of dark. But I applaud the concept. And I love both Martin and Short.
