  1. What are the odds a team would have a Phoenix and a Felix in the same pen? Phoenix meet Felix. Try to say that fast.
  2. I wish someone would make that kind of clerical error in my paychecks. Like Steve Martin once said, "One show and good-bye."
  3. There's a quote somewhere on there. I can't remember. Not as much as the MLB subscription. Maybe half? I went with the two year plan and just forget about it for 24 months.
  4. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com has worked like a charm for me for almost 2 full years now as I cut the cord from DirecTV. Made no sense for me to pay over $100 / mo for 12 months just for six months of O's games. Now I just pay the baseball subscription and the yearly VPN fee, which is reasonable. I occasionally have to re-start my Mac if there's a problem logging in (maybe three times this year). I begin with the tab for MLB-TV closed. I shut the website down and log out after every game. I initiate the VPN and then re-open the MLB-TV tab and log in. I log out of MLB-TV after every game. I can't stay logged into the VPN when I'm not tuned in to baseball because my other streaming services do not always allow out of US log ins. But it's easy enough just to do this for O's games. My Mac is a Mac Mini and I just run an HDMI into an open slot on my HDTV. I run a cable from the headphones out jack and into my stereo.
  5. Glad no one was hurt on that last out. Reminded me a bit of when Brian Roberts had his elbow injury.
  6. Bautista didn't have a Little League card. Because he was born a full grown man. And Bogaerts was not intimidated apparently.
  7. I was surprised it came up on MLB-TV. It was my last resort. I am in market, ie. Durham NC, but the VPN method of viewing on my Mac (routed into my HDTV) has worked all year. But I wasted an inning and a half struggling with trying to log into Safari for ESPN+, even though it's part of my Hulu-Disney package. I think JustD reported earlier tonight in the game thread that a call to customer service said the game was not available on those who stream ESPN+, but only have ESPN as part of a cable package or something. Don't hold me to that, mainly as I was not able to dial it in. I'm almost caught up after skipping past the commercials.
  8. I wonder how hard it is to keep from swearing or cursing when the mic is on? I can't take out the trash without taking some deity's name in vain after stubbing my toe. I know when the mics are not on, it's easy to read lips.
  9. My wife and daugther melted when they saw that. I was a little disappointed he had not begun his creative eyeblack stylings in Little League.
  10. Seeing houses out past the wall reminds me a tad of Memorial Stadium. Different kinds of homes (40s era townhouses in Baltimore, maybe?). Almost in the same position as well, right center.
  11. Never felt good about that either. That said, Mountcastle was very entertaining when he was earlier this year. One play he had to either run in for a bunt or something and he said, "man I was gassed getting back to that ball".
  12. Had ridiculous log in issues with ESPN+ until I finally realized it's still on MLB-TV (with my VPN). So I'm probably an innning and a half behind (Amtrak got me home to Durham about ten minutes prior to game time). Who are the announcers? The color guy almost sounds like Josh from Section 336 podcast. I like Josh, btw. Just sounds like him.
  13. It's also on MLB-TV if you have a subscription and out of market. i don't watch college basketball or football enough to even turn on ESPN+, but I did buy the Disney-Hulu-ESPN+ bundle last winter since it had a savings for all three. And wouldn't you know it, I wasted about 25 minutes trying to log into ESPN+ and it kept asking for my provider (Hulu) and kept getting a prompt that "you are not subscribed to this add-on", though my Hulu profile clears says I do. After cursing and kicking like Earl Weaver, I finally tried MLB-TV (I use a VPN on Safari), it's right there. Alice Sweet is joining me for the game.
  14. Was a little punchy on the train ride home, I think. Sadly, my flask was empty on the 7+ hour trip. I should have paced myself a little better! Will be home just in time to catch tonight’s game. Train is stalled about 10 miles from home, but still confident I’ll see first pitch.
  15. Can of Corn, Mountcastle and BenBOOm.
  16. From that link. Made me chuckle The potato incident Dave Bresnahan was catching for the 1987 Williamsport Bills, who were in seventh place in an eight-team league, playing the last-place Reading Phillies in late-August game.[22] With a runner on third base, Bresnahan switched catcher's mitts and put on a glove in which he had secreted a shaved-down potato. When the pitch came in, Bresnahan fired the white potato down the third-base line, enticing the runner to sprint home. Bresnahan then tagged the runner with the baseball, prompting the umpire to award the runner home plate for Bresnahan's deception, even though he clearly had been tagged out with the ball.[22] The president of the Eastern League took offense to what he perceived as Bresnahan's affront to the game, banning the grandnephew of Hall of Famer Roger Bresnahan from the league.[citation needed] However, the citizens of Williamsport applauded Bresnahan for his ingenuity, eventually prompting the club to retire his number 59.[22] At the retirement ceremony in 1998, Bresnahan was quoted as saying, "Lou Gehrig had to play in 2,130 consecutive games and hit .340 for his number to be retired, and all I had to do was bat .140 and throw a potato."[23]
  17. We’ll be coming around the mountain when he comes.
  18. The drink was sort of accidental. They basically had just bitters and whiskey on hand. And I was going to go with that. But my wife had in her hand what I thought was club soda and lemon. I asked her to pour a splash in mine. I later realized it was some vodka concoction. Thus The Bromo Tower! Only saw Boog on the field for a pregame ceremony for an award Hays was given. Never made it to his pit. I filled up on fried shrimp at Pratt St. Ale House pregame.
  19. Ordered a drink there in the members lounge. They didn’t have the ingredients for an Old Fashioned so we made one up. Called it a Bromo Tower. Jameson, bitters, vodka and lemon juice. Great to be with JustD!
  20. OFFNY is fine and well. I see him on Facebook often and have even spoken on the phone.
  21. I didn’t notice it until Ben mentioned it awhile back. Jersey looked just like this: Phillips 66 And I looked it up recently. It was the first time he’d worn 66.
  22. I’d personally love a number of players on opposing teams to get nailed by a kickball for an out on the way to first. Like maybe Papi coming out of retirement. Seeing him slowly jogging to first and “wham”.
