  1. I never thought I’d see him over-run one right after you type this. But you were right.
  2. This just in: (AP) MLB to institute kickball rules when 25 combined runs are scored before 6 innings are complete.
  3. Is it routine for both teams to exhaust visits to mound before 8th inning? I haven’t followed that this year. Both teams down to two and we have not completed five innings.
  4. I never thought I’d say this, but let’s get 20. That may win this one. But don’t hold me to that.
  5. Regarding Hays, I was saving this for a breakout night at the plate, but he’s still mired in that slump. Who knows, maybe this is his weekend to turn it around
  6. McNulty: "Be gentle. I'm just a simple country boy."
  7. I posted pretty much the same and some other related thoughts, but ended up deleting my post. But mainly as I'd just had a strong cocktail and thought I may soon be too tipsy to defend my stance adequately! Drink (and post). Responsibly.
  8. I started the game two hours late, so I'm still really early in the game. But I remember seeing their catcher Kirk the other day and my original thought was "Wow, this guy seems to be the stereotype of what catchers were in our sandlot before we started league play", ie. short and kind of dumpy. And then I looked up his stats and I realize A) he's a strong hitter and B ) I'm only 10lbs less than him and maybe an inch taller. So I'm looking at the current me when I see him play ball! Of course, I'm almost 61 and I imagine he'd roll me and fold me like a cheap suitcase in two minutes if we met in an alley.
  9. I used to reply on the FB page occasionally, but hardly ever start conversations there. At some point in the Spring, I noticed the caption "closed for further commenting" on every thread, so I wasn't sure if the problem was on my end or if it was a FB glitch. So I just unfollowed the page from that point onward. This is home. FB over there just seems a disconnected loose conglomeration of strangers and nowhere near as "family" as this original forum. I think the only really interesting thing I'd see there is how locals perceive what's going on.
  10. Out of rep, but kudos on the Cal Naughton Jr. reference. "So when you say psychosomatic, you mean like he could start a fire with his thoughts?" - Cal Naughton, Jr.
  11. I remember some Buck teams having awful Sunday records. Or was it just before Buck? It was awhile ago is all I remember.
  12. At least some excitement from Mullins. Maybe some momentum will spill over from that at the plate. Who am I kidding?
  13. I have not paid close attention to every word of the play by play today call, but has it been mentioned that Rasmussen has had two Tommy John surgeries? I can't confirm, but that came from one of my Rays buddies in Durham.
  14. 79 pitches. 56 strikes. There's math in there somewhere. I was told there would be no math in game threads.
  15. A text I sent to one of my Rays' friends. Sort of one of those "I cannot confirm nor deny the existence of a perfect game" kind of things a politician would say. "Hey Jack. I don't believe in jinxes, but in case you do, I encourage you to check the Rays box score. Not a no-no, but the other thing. Through six innings." I realized I sort of fudged to him, as a perfect game is a no-no. But hey, if we can't produce heroics, it's time to start cheating. And allow me be the first.
  16. I live in Durham, the home of their AAA team, so lots of Rays fans here. It's why I get to see Norfolk play as much as I do.
  17. i'm gonna text my Rays friends. I encourage everyone to ...
  18. It is really hard to tell. Maybe try the green font! Btw, since this thread was not moved the Game Thread, it appears folks are gravitating to the one that is in the Game Threads.
  19. jinx. We posted at the same time. I got that same feeling.
