  1. Reboulet had Randy Johnson's number in '97 post-season.
  2. I would not know whom to put money on if he and Wieters had a race around the base paths. Both look like they're hauling a bag of concrete under each arm. Or full milk pails.
  3. Sounds good next to my nick name for Ryan. He's so laid back and loose that I call him Mount Casual.
  4. The HR scoring of it saves face (pun intended) of the poor right fielder who had it glance off of his cheek.
  5. All of those are great. I'm just going to list one that I was there for (and just feet from), as I only make it up to Baltimore once a year. It was Manny Machado's go-head line drive HR in the 7th inning vs. Boston on Saturday September 29th 2012. It landed just past my outstretched glove a few rows from the wall. The win put them in a tie with the Yankees heading into the final 4 games and when the dust cleared, into the Wild Card game and the Divisional Series, their first playoffs since '97. It was also Brooks Robinson's statue unveiling day. All the HOF / statue honorees were on hand to congratulate him.
  6. The shoe polish on the ball in maybe Game 5 was another hose job. The Mets batter was awarded first base and I think a go-head HR followed. I read somewhere recently that one of the Mets later admitted to rubbing the ball (or rather A ball) against his cleats in the dugout before Gil Hodges presented it to the ump as the ball that involved in the play. In fact, I think it was originally called a ball and then after given a smudged ball, the ump reversed his call.
  7. I saw him play CF Sunday in Durham. I didn't really get a good feel for him (0-3, 2Ks). But next to him in RF, Stowers threw a bullet to get a baserunner out and homered in a loss.
  8. Fenway Park has a roof vegetable garden that's very nice. Here's a link that explains where it is and what they do with what's grown. https://greencitygrowers.com/fenway-farms/
  9. My wife just mentioned to me that it's a pretty smart idea due to no rabbits or deer popping by and helping themselves. I guess ball park rats may seek 'em out, but I think the O's may have traps for them. I guess whomever is growing them figured he's at the park more hours than he's home and there's ample sunlight out there. Same idea Earl had.
  10. Force him to play on his knees so that he's roughly the same size as everyone else. Each time I see him at the plate with that open stance, I say to myself, "Here he is again. The giant."
  11. Not much interest. I'm going to a Burlington Sock Puppets game vs. Bluefield instead.
  12. I know someone who used to keep one of those by their bed so they could have bacon every morning without getting out of bed. Imagine what kind of injuries you'd get there. A lap (or worse) full of hot grease.
  13. At least it was not a tanning bed injury. Takes longer to come back from that.
  14. I think you're right. I seem to remember that, too.
  15. Ten, ten, ten, ten, let's sing the song of ten. How many is ten?
  16. Even while noting the color of the reply, I did notice the stream was not as high a resolution as Apple.
  17. Seems they used to do that on NBC for the World Series in the late 60s and early 70s. It would be Curt Gowdy with Bill O'Donnell (O's) and Lindsey Nelson (Mets) in the '69 Series, for example.
  18. Not a fan really of the practice, as it takes a player's mind out of the game, but I agree, very entertaining. And Mountcastle (or MountCasual as I call him) was exactly how I thought he'd be judging from his body language in the dugout all year. It's a 3-way tie for my favorite Oriole with him, Hays and Rutschman. And as my wife said, "he was out of breath as he was doing all that talking." Also, the TV image does not seem as crisp as my usual MLB-TV feed on my Mac-Mini using Safari (I run it into my HDTV).
  19. Not cool. To pay for MLB-TV and this one isn't available unless one buys a Peacock subscription. https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/help-center/subscription-access-peacock-gotw " Frequently Asked Questions: Do I need to pay to watch MLB Sunday Leadoff on Peacock?
