  1. Me too. I thought they'd stand pat. Curious about what we got.
  2. If it's just my wife and I, we have stayed at the Lord Baltimore Hotel just a couple of blocks north of the ballpark. I also recommend The Wilson House bed and breakfast. It's near Reservoir Hill and not terribly far from Penn Station (we have taken Amtrak from Durham NC to Baltimore a number of times). The Light Rail is just a half mile's walk from there and that means you can get to the game without driving. There's ample parking on the block at the house. The owner is a retired military intelligence officer and inventor / author. We've had some really great conversation with him at breakfasts there. It's a Victorian restored home and is named for the convention in Baltimore which nominated Woodrow Wilson. The negotiations for the nomination occurred at the house.
  3. Nice eye, Vavra ... Mulva or whatever it is. Good work.
  4. Come on guys. This is the Butt Farmer with the 6.00 ERA. Get it done.
  5. It looks like they're trying to catch that late 19th century riverboat vibe with that font on the back of their white jerseys. Just not a good look. Just put on straw boater hats, Rollie Finger mustaches and get it over with.
  6. Huge out. No challenge, though? Was close. I thought he'd beat the throw, but looks like he had some heat on that throw. Ok, they are.
  7. Agreed 100%. I told this to my die-hard Reds buddy yesterday. He said it has grown on him, but we both agree the late 60s - early 70s were their best look. The big block letters for the names on back. By the time Concepcion got there, it barely fit. I did like the occasional vest look they had in the early to mid-60s, too.
  8. Even if it hit just the bat, the shock of that on the hand or finger would not be comfortable.
  9. Was thinking the same. Of course, I'd love to see us bat around and pile up some runs leading up to that.
  10. A hit to start our chipping away at their pen. Stay on the balcony, mrbig1!
  11. Very, very good. Barry Gibb wrote it, but still. Props. edit: The three Gibb brothers wrote it.
  12. "Please don't take my man because you can." No trade talks regarding him, I'm guessing. So yes, puzzling. But if he were, it would be clever.
  13. Trey batting lead off today according to MLB preview of game.
  14. That's my thought as well. It seems a tag would have completed the DP. Unless as you say, the force play is off due to the batter passing the runner of ahead of him. Just seems odd in a force play situation the lead runner ends up back on the base where he started.
  15. Without a doubt. And that chant for him in key moments.
  16. The other look on Surhoff's face that comes to mind are the tears he cried when he faced the media after being traded. Showed heart. Was always fond of him.
  17. Maybe Luke Scott will show up and re-enact his home run trot. The one where he pulled a hammy before he got to second base.
  18. Skip ahead to the fancy mic work below ... https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxjxsIZMNX2oOj5ym_mT73Ue6pXiHfgAFj
  19. This one comes to mind for me, though I remember the Andino game double well. He came off the bench to hit a walk-off HR to complete a sweep of The Indians 6 years ago this week. I was there and I had my phone's cam running, but this is a better video of it.
  20. I was also there for the last Cal HR. I had bought tix the day they went on sale in January. And I bought the tix for Yankee Stadium that same day as it was the last scheduled game. And yes, 9/11 changed all of that. I had tix to his last games in Boston, NY and Baltimore, all bought early on that winter and a friend of mine made it a ballpark tour. We even caught NL games in Philly and Pittsburgh. So when the last game ended up being much later at home vs. Boston, I had to resort to a scalper for the first time in my life. It was the most I had ever paid for an entertainment ticket until I bought Brian Wilson SMiLE tix, second row center, three or four years later.
