Didnt Jim Rice take a million years to get into the hall of fame?

That's kind of like saying "didn't it take you forty years to make your first million?"

I was happy for him to get into the HOF. He was a feared hitter and I dreaded him coming to bat when I followed the O's on the radio in the 70s. He was in the top five in MVP voting six times, won it once. He was only 2nd in ROY because his teammate Fred Lynn had such a monster rookie year. He was in simple terms, a stud hitter. Averaged 30 HRs a year for his career and RBI over 100.

Dang,  I loved Jim Rice when I was a kid.  Sometimes it's best not to hear our heroes speak.

I've listened to that Red Sox crew before.  They are an arrogant bunch.  Yesterday, their radio guys mentioned Holliday's debut calling it obvious service time manipulation.   Whatever losers.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The O's were always my team, but the 70s Red Sox had some hosses and I did admire them. Him, Fred Lynn, Pudge, Yaz on and on. And that's only a few of 'em and none of the pitchers.

I'd love to hear what he thinks of the Red Sox.

All three hosts were dwelling on all the Boston mistakes, so it went from there. They are still talking about it as I still have it on.

It wasn't Nash Lumber who made the comment. It was Dunk35, and Nash Lumber said the comment should be in a different thread - which was actually pretty clever because of the thread he linked. It was Dunk35 I’ve ignored. Which doesn't matter to anyone but me, I should’ve kept that to myself.

Dunk's comment was "Jesus Jackson" and a WTF or something. And I joked that the moderators should move it to the Brothers in Christ thread.

This game might be Baumann proof now. Cowser might be the ROY on this team.

Of course, wasn't he the one who got the sloppy 10 wins off of other people's work last year?

Just because he hasn't gotten a hit or had some questionable defense doesn't mean he's nervous or feeling pressure. He's learning to play at the major league level.

I agree. He looks calm to me. If he's rattled, he's not showing it.

We used to have a bullpen guy about ten years ago who looked like nerves every time out.

Anyone think we should have let Cano pitch the 9th?

All I can think of is Kimbrel's comfort at pitching at Fenway in tense scenarios.

I don’t love throwing inside with a 1 run lead late in the game Fenway park.

Aaron Boone and Bucky Dent come to mind.

Edit: Boone's was in Yankee Stadium.

That's why I've been so negative for the last decade plus, it's all an elaborate reverse jinx.

    Playing the long con.

MASN did that.   MLBTV is just airing the MASN feed.

It was the same on the Boston video feed. I was watching it due to the green tint of MASN's picture.

OMG my reverse jinx worked again...

I would say even a watched clock is right twice a day, but if all of one's comments are downers about how the team can't do jack, well ... I'm not sure it qualifies as the reverse jinx 😚
