82 degrees in Durham NC. Nice night to watch on the iPad with the wife and Great Pyrenees pup in the backyard.
So everyone has their own Homer Hose nipple or what? Go Rhino!
I see Ben agrees.

Now that we’ve acquired him, can we give him back?
In think in cases like this, we get store credit and not a refund.

Batters beware.
129 career innings, 24 HBP.
Just wow.
Not afraid to pitch inside, I see
Maybe Adley can set up for a pitch a foot off of the plate and maybe he'll hit the corner instead. -

The As are not going to compete for at least a couple of years. Mason Miller is having a breakout season in the bullpen. 100mph heat and a wicked slider - an absolute sword machine. We have excess position player talent. Who would you trade and would Oakland accept the deal,?
Interesting idea. Following.

Dang, saw a fan wearing a Baines jersey. That's like wearing a Dave Duncan or something.

Ain't gonna lie, this one feels good. Nice job boys! Turn on the splash!

The Milkman. When you need to turn it up to 11.
Or if 10 sounds like 11.

Apparently we were thinking about the same thing. And @Moose Milligan, he was 0 for 12 until he got his first hit per what I saw. He broke his hitless streak vs. Warren Spahn with a HR over the roof at Polo Grounds.
I was typing my Mays tidbit when you posted yours.
@Roy Firestone, I was just thinking of the similar number of AB of Holliday and Mays at this stage in Jackson's first four or so games. Mays did go 0-12 after that HR off of Spahn and Durocher moved him from 3rd in the lineup to 8th.
So we were both on the right track. In my original post above, I remember that bit of info as I researched a paper on Mays in 3rd grade as my "most unforgettable character".-

When talking about Jackson struggling remember...Willie Mays went 1-26 in his 1951 debut...I still think Jackson needs to get his confidence back

I'm not saying Holliday will have a career like Mays, but I remember this tidbit when I wrote a theme about Willie as my "most unforgettable character" in 3rd grade. I still have the paper.
I went back to check that on Wikipedia:
"Mays appeared in his first major league game on May 25 against the Philadelphia Phillies at Shibe Park, batting third. He had no hits in his first 12 at bats in the major leagues, but in his 13th on May 28, he hit a home run off Warren Spahn over the left-field roof of the Polo Grounds." -

I still believe in Holliday but 5ks in a row has really got to be tough for him.
I feel for him and am pulling for him.
That said, one of my friends, a Brewer fan just texted me and calls him ...
JacKson
I told him, "just wait". -

I don’t watch many AAA games but I think I am a fan of the challenge system.
I have, and I am totally onboard. It moves fast.

Nice to have a guy who can adjust and minimize the damage when that happens. Hopefully some of the young guys will pick up on it and add it to their bag of experience.

First or second pitch, with those aces are often the most hittable you'll see. MIL proves it right out of the shoot.

At sound check now. Looks like I missed the party. ie. The Brew Crew partying in our house. Glad I missed it. Last thing I saw while we were on the road was AR’s HR.

I used to love watching Honus Wagner.
I used to work with a guy 25 years ago, and he was in his early 80s then. He grew up in Pittsburgh and remembers seeing Honus coaching 3rd base for the Pirates. He called him the Bow-legged Cowboy, which I guess was his posture. He also told me he heard Babe Ruth play on the radio in that era.

Agreed. I think it all comes down to Ted Williams' philosophy of "get a pitch you can hit". If it's the first pitch (and in so many case, the first pitch is that pitch), then go with it. We see it so many times where the broadcaster will say "(insert pitcher name) was ambushed on that pitch". It means, he threw the best pitch he's gonna see, ie. pitch #1. Taking strike one with someone who is not known for hitting his target basically reduces the equation to "two strikes vs. 4 balls". Doing the same with an ace will be even more disadvantageous. Getting oneself into a hole puts the pitcher at that distinct advantage and the batter then finds himself swinging or flailing at pitches that are close, rather than one he can barrel up on.
