  1. I like that outfield alignment, but I don't see a place for Santander. With Adley as the DH a couple of days a week, I think they want to keep that spot a place where they can rotate Adley with one of the reserve infielders to keep everyone active. I also don't see any reason Cowser can't be our best outfielder by 2025. I think he's a much higher level prospect than either Hays or Mullins at a similar point in their careers.
  2. I know this is not the point of the thread, but I don't get all the Cowser/Stowers comparisons. I never thought Stowers would be more than a role player. I expect Cowser to be a cornerstone of the team for years. I just don't think they should bring him up until he can play ever day.

    Cade Povich 2023

Another discouraging start - 5 runs in 4 1/3 innings Looks like he may be in Bowie all season. I just hope he puts a few good starts together eventually.
  4. No one said the Orioles would hold him down two more years if he's ready. My point was they aren't going to call him up just because he's a certain age. I also don't think keeping him in the minors if he isn't ready will cause problems within the baseball industry. I also think he should make it by next year if he continues to hit like he has been. I just don't think the Orioles are going to rush because they are in a hurry due to his age.
  5. That's a little dramatic. Kjerstad had a heart issure that kept him out of action for a year, or maybe two. You think someone will complain that it's somehow the Orioles' fault he is delayed getting to the majors by half a year when he missed much more time than that due to the fault of no one.
  6. We already have both of them. You don't have to find anyone. If Holliday is league average and Ortiz is better, why not switch them? We'd have two shortstops who can hit, so play the best defender at short.
  7. You must have missed all those posts about Ortiz's exit velocity and how he hit the second half of last season. I expect him to be as good as Westburg on offense, if not better, and much more skilled on defense with the ability to play three positions very well.
  8. He went to college and then had a health issue. I think that explains his age. I don't know how that matters anyway. He should have plenty of time for a nice career with the Orioles, whether he starts at 25 or 27.
  9. Considering what he went through, I'm not sure it is logical to push him aggressively. I'm just happy he's playing again. A half season at AA is the minimum I'd expect. I'd like to see him put up some big numbers at both stops before playing in Baltimore next year.
  10. I don't know what's hard to get about the idea he has only played 37 games at AA. It's way too early.
  11. My point was he didn't dominate long enough at Norfolk even though he was really close before the injury.
  12. I always hate the "he has nothing to prove" argument when a guy hasn't actually dominated a level for at least most of a season. I'm fine if Grayson proves he's ready, even if he skipped AAA all together, but I'd rather see them be one of the best at each level and truly have nothing to prove. I think Rom was heading in that direction, but then he comes up for no real reason and hasn't been as good once he returned. Just leave them alone until August.
  13. I like Ortiz better than Westburg because I do like the Ortiz-Holliday combo for the long term. I also think it could be Holliday at second in that scenario. My theory is we may keep both. If we want a future star pitcher in return, we may have to trade a future star third baseman in return and settle for Westburg at third, or perhaps Urias a few more years.
  14. I hate any plan that turns Mateo into a "utility guy." It makes no sense to me to have him playing anywhere but short.
  15. I think the Orioles move someone like Kremer/Bradish as part of the trade for a starter. If we have the unlikely problem of too many great starting pitchers, we can move one of them for more minor league pitching depth.
  16. There was some debate last year on here about Westburg playing short in the majors. I think it's pretty clear now there are several in front of him there. It may come down to Ortiz or Westburg at second with the other being traded or moving to third in the unlikely event the Orioles move Gunnar for a No. 1 pitcher.
  17. I'm more worried about messing Cowser up than if he's better than Stowers. I think we should do what's best for Cowser for the long term.
  18. I've seen your theories on that before. I don't agree. We might as well bring up Holliday then, and maybe whoever we draft this summer.
  19. I never think it's worth the risk of rushing a player. I'd wait until July or August. We are a pretty good team without him.
  20. I didn't think any of those guys, including Stowers, were as good as Cowser. Stowers hit .264. Cowser is .317 with an OPS over 1,000
  21. I like Rodriguez and Wells, but it's mismanagement if Elias doesn't package some of our prospects with some others for a young ace by July.
  22. My guess is it's too early for Rom. I was hoping to see him get two more starts this week with Norfolk.
  23. For some reason, I see Ortiz as our second baseman and Norby in left or DH or utility. I think we trade Westburg or Gunnar with the other playing third. I like Ortiz the best of those three mentioned.
  24. I know Perez stayed in to face the left-handed hitter, but I've thought 4 outs from 3 good relief pitchers is the best way to get through four innings in a big game. I guess Hyde will go with Cano here though.
  25. I love 3-inning saves. Everyone else would be ready for tomorrow and Sunday.
