  1. I was hoping they'd wait until July, but now that he's here he should play just about every day. I've always thought it makes sense to put him at second base with Mateo or Holliday likely to cover short for the next decade or so.
  2. I thought he showed last year he could be our best starter for a while but sort of lost steam at some point. Perhaps that was a learning experience and he's figured it out long term. I hope we can look for an upgrade for Kremer and/or Bradish at some point. I'd rather move a couple of our 4s for one 2.
  3. I've been a Cowser fan for a long time and figure he's part of the long-time plan. I'd much rather he get another two months or so in Norfolk though and ride it out with who we have until July, at least. I hate watching prospects bounce back and forth. I'd like to see him have the job on opening day in 24.
  4. Perhaps. I get the feeling Wells will eventually be our best starter.
  5. I like that, but I'd had to move Norby. I'd rather include Kremer or Bradish with Erod taking that spot in the rotation.
  6. I love to see these guys doing well and think both Cowser and Ortiz are regulars in 2024, but why do people start with the call them up stuff after a good week and a half. It doesn't matter if they are better than Vavra or anyone else. The idea is for them to be ready when they get to Baltimore. I'd like to see them put together a dominating season at Norfolk.
  7. I've always thought Cowser had a much better chance to help the Orioles than Stowers. I'd let him stay there until June. He should start in left and play just about every day if he does move up.
  8. I hope they pay Adley and Gunnar, but some of you are delusional if you think they are going to pay everyone currently on the roster. Ortiz, Cowser and Kjerstad are going to be rookies and be much cheaper. They may trade a couple prospect, but I think Ortiz will be playing second base for the Orioles in 2024 and beyond. I think Ortiz may be able to play with the Orioles now, but I can't see them doing that before July at the earliest, especially with the team winning.
  9. I want Adley and Gunnar to stay long term, but we aren't keeping everyone on the major league roster with guys like Cowser, Ortiz, Norby and others on the way. I don't mind watching Norfolk win a league title this year like the old Rochester teams of the 70s, but they have to make room for 3-5 of them next year.
  10. Yeah, some of them should be moved for a starting pitcher. I think Westburg goes and some of the outfielders. I get the feeling Elias would like the elite defense in the infield we'd have with the trio I mentioned.
  11. I'd be surprised if it's not Ortiz at second, Mateo at short and Henderson at third the next two years. I think Norby will have to DH or play left due to his defense compared to the others.
  12. I've been in countless debates with people who wanted Mateo gone for anything because "he can't hit" or "he's really not that good" defensively. I always thought he was still improving and could be an impact player. If he is traded though, I think it has to be for a young and top-flight starting pitcher, even if we have to add a pitcher and another piece or two. I like Gunnar better at third, but I'd move him to short if Mateo was moved and then move him back when Holliday is ready.
  13. He may have been a 2 or 3 before, but he would be a 1 for us, and he's pitching like a 1 for the Twins. I think he was worth the gamble and was our best chance to fill that role.
  14. Baumann has been a starter forever. I'd like to have some long men who can pitch 3-4 innings. Bautista could get 4-5 outs with no game tomorrow, if he was needed.

    Cade Povich 2023

I'm starting to wonder if he passes Hall this year in the race to be a starting lefty for the Orioles.
  16. What Major League general manager announces the plan for who he is trading and who is playing where three years from now. I think the probable plan is Holliday plays short in 2025 or 2026. Who cares how much we pay the best defensive shortstop in the league in his arbitration years while he is still young and in his prime. If we let him go in 2026, no one is hurt. I hope we use that money to extend Holliday after we've already extended Adley and Gunnar. I doubt we extend Mateo, but that's OK because someone else will be paying him as he slows down.
  17. Seems to me that Mateo is continuing to improve and is one of the best in the game now on defense. It makes no sense to me to move Gunnar there with Holliday on the way. It also makes no sense to me to move your best shortstop to any other position. I don't remember anyone suggesting Belanger go to center, but of course everyone didn't have a platform for those kind of ideas back then.
  18. The Yankees have a spot for him and we don't - makes no sense at all. He certainly could have been in Stowers' spot or McKenna. Hays can play center on occasion, probably as well as McKenna
  19. If Ben really believe there "isn't a spot" for Frenchy he isn't as smart as I thought.
  20. I keep thinking of the people who said the Orioles didn't need another starting pitcher and they had enough already. I thought Kremer would play a key role though.
  21. Some of it comes back on the coaching staff and how that is handled. A superstar like Machado can get away with being lazy on occasion, but not a guy is barely hanging to a spot.
  22. I hate when they don't seem to know the rule. It is still very much a save situation if Perez stayed in the game.
  23. I'm curious what it would have taken for the Orioles to get Pablo Lopez. I think adding a top-flight starting pitcher would have been the best move we could have made in the off-season.
  24. Basallo with a two-run homer in the 10th inning tonight.
  25. It's not like we have the 70s Orioles or 90s Braves rotation. I think the Orioles can cut it to five starters without too much trouble. If we're that deep, I'd prefer packaging two or three of them with some prospects and go get a top-flight starter at the deadline.
