  1. I love 3-inning saves. Everyone else would be ready for tomorrow and Sunday.
  2. We can replace Gunnar with Westburg. I don't think Westburg brings back a top starter, but Gunnar could. I'd offer Henderson, Stowers and Bradish.
  3. I've been a big fan of Mateo, every when it seemed everyone wanted to trade him. I would move him though if we can get a top of the rotation pitcher who will be around several years. I'd move anyone other than Adley or Rodriguez.
  4. Yes, that may be more likely to happen. We just need a couple of really good young starters. I don't think we get that with Mateo or Westburg.
  5. That is the kind of conversation the Orioles' brass needs to be having. I don't think we can compete for a championship without a couple of starters much better than we have now.

    Drew Rom 2023

I dislike that so many want to totally ignore wins. I grew up following wins and watching Orioles' pitchers working to get to 20. I still hate to see our pitchers taken out with a lead in the fifth inning. I'd like to see Rom get to 10 by the break and see what happens. Since there's no hurry to bring him up, who know what he might accomplish this year.
  7. We were talking about Kjerstad because the poster said the system was not allowing movement of players. My point was there was no one at AA ready to move up.
  8. I should have said two of four teams with losing records.
  9. True - hard to believe the greatest organization ever would have three losing minor league teams. I do enjoy following Norfolk though.
  10. Yeah, .273, but still no reason to rush a guy who missed as much as he did. I think best-case scenario is a half season of each this year.
  11. He's played a month of AA ball and hitting .263. He's fine where he is, especially after all he's been through. There is no reason to rush these guys like that. Elias has promoted guys pretty quickly, but it's barely May.
  12. We have a great AAA team, but the others are average at best. I don't really see very many players at AA tearing it up at this point.
  13. No, I don't like the idea of a continuous rebuild, but even in the glory days you had Johnson moving for Grich and then Dauer eventually replacing Grich. I don't know if Hays or Mullins will be both be with the Orioles for the long-term, but i think the chances are good that Cowser will be as good or better.
  14. I don't know yet if Kjerstad is better than Norby, even if he is rated higher. We also don't even know if Mullins or Hays will be here long. It could be Cowser in center, Norby in left, Mayo in right and Kjerstad at DH/1B.
  15. I don't know how well he will age, so that's why I said 5-10. There are plenty of players through the years who are still good at 36. He's not had a full season at AAA yet, so I don't have a problem with him gaining a few more months of experience. I was also OK with him staying once he was called up. I'd like to see those guys put up monster numbers in AAA like the 70s, as someone mentioned earlier on Grich and Baylor. I'd take another Grich, but I just hope we can keep Ortiz longer if he's as good.
  16. I could handle trading anyone but Adley and Rodriguez if it brings in a solid starter or two. I 'd rather keep Ortiz though if possible. I think he will be an elite defender and perhaps an all-star at second the way he hits. I'd rank him ahead of Mateo, as much as I like Mateo, for the long term. I also hope we can keep Norby as a DH, left fielder and backup infielder.
  17. I just don't know if it matters that much who plays second between Urias and Frazier, especially since Urias is so good at third. I just hope to see Ortiz there by August or at least by March.
  18. I like Ortiz and Cowser quite a bit and expect them to be our second baseman and left fielder for the next 5-10 years. Whether Ortiz starts with the Orioles are 25 or 26 and whether he is still listed as a project don't seem to be that relevant to me, and I don't see how another 2-3 months at Norfolk would hurt in the big picture. I'm OK if they bring both up tomorrow, but I can also wait until July or August if it takes that long to finalize a trade to supplement our starting pitching.
  19. I always bring that up when someone has played well for a month and fans come up with the "they have nothing left to prove" argument. I think Westburg is the only one of the four who may have stayed too long in AAA. I don't think it hurts to keep the others there for a year at Norfolk, or at least most of one. I've thought Westburg was the guy to trade for pitching, but now I'm thinking maybe we make him our third baseman if Gunnar could bring back a top-flight young starter and maybe another pitching prospect. We need pitching, and we have a glut of infielders.
  20. I think Perez could use the work. I'd try to get him through the eighth, then go to Baker to finish.
  21. Not sure Stowers would get much more than a backup outfielder, like he is at this point. What makes you think they have a lot of value. I don't think our record would make the Dodgers more likely to trade with us.
  22. I really like Norby, just not at second base. I'm hoping Santander or Hays would work as the top guy in a trade, along with one of our starters and some minor league guys.
  23. We're going to trade players who have "issues" and can't win a spot with the Orioles for a potential No. 1 pitcher?
  24. OK - so throw in Gavin Stone and Bobby Miller and we have pitching prospects to go with all of our infield prospects. We could add Kremer and Perez.
  25. If we're going to get a top-flight starter we have to give up something big. Would Gunnar bring back Dustin May? We'd be covered at third with Urias and it would open a utility spot for Westburg.
