If Wells and Perez are in the bullpen with Coulumbe, Akin, Cano and Kimbrel, and maybe Irvin, there aren't a lot of spots needed to fill.
-
I like Means, but they can't take Suarez out of the rotation at this point. I assumed it would be Irvin or Means at some point.

Speaking of Adley, I found myself in a debate with Orioles fans on Facebook who criticized him for throwing down with runners on first and third Sunday. Several seemed to think I was crazy for arguing you don't just give up stolen bases in the majors. Has the game changed the last few years or are people confusing the majors with high school catcher who give up steals of second with winners on third?

It was a fun week, but we may have gone a little overboard. Norfolk is in fourth place in its division in the International League now. Kjerstand and Mayo are certainly very promising, and I've always liked Norby, but the lineup doesn't look so dominating now without Holliday.

TT: DH and 4th outfielder, and last man on the bench situations

I agree with the comment that either Hays or Santander should be moved. I can see Mateo playing some center, but if Hays is still there then Cowser needs to play some in both left and center to get enough at bats. I can't see the Orioles sending him back to Norfolk. -
TT: Taking a look at the bullpen now that Hall is gone

I see your point and that's probably what will happen. I like the idea of seeing him pitch multiple innings twice a week to perhaps get him back to being a starter eventually. He could close out a game going innings 7-9 since he's been a starter in the past. -
Regarding Hays & Cowser, would you rather...

I like Hays, but I think they have to move him and give Cowser the job with Norby getting a few at bats in left and second. If we're going to sign any outfielders, I'd go with Santander since he gives us power and can DH. -

Not sure very many teams have eight bullpen spots locked in at this point, but ours seems solid with Kimbrel/Coulumbe/Cano/Perez in innings 7-9 with Irvin and Wells the potential long guys with Tate, Baker, Baumann, Akin, Vespi, Zimmerman also in the mix for middle/long roles. How many do we need? I'd rather move Kremer for another lefty in the rotation. -
Just what I think. I liked Ortiz better than Westburg. Perhaps the Brewers did also. I like the trade, but Ortiz could have easily started at second or short for the Orioles in 2024.
-
I don't think they can. I guess we'll see. I believe Elias is smarter than that. I'm sure every MLB team could identify 7-10 SP "candidates," even the teams who have been adding like crazy this winter. Heck, we had 7 candidates when we were losing 100-plus.
-
No way they can go into the season with Mateo, Urias, Westburg, Ortiz and Norby and not move 1-2 for pitching when it's so obvious they have an excess in one area and issues in another.
-
I'm not sure about that, especially if he gets tired of the lack of financial support from ownership. I'm certain Elias would have no problem finding another job and would destroy any remaining support Angelos has in the community if he comes forward with his frustrations, assuming he is or eventually feels that way.
-
I expected Hall to start, but after last year's struggles I don't expect it. I think it makes more sense go with him as a reliever and hope McDermott and/or Povich can work their way into the rotation eventually.
-
I'd rather keep him and let the White Sox have Westburg.
-
But Henderson is a third baseman, Ortiz is a shortstop and Holliday is a second baseman, so move him.
-
I hoped that Westburg would be the player they wanted. I think Ortiz will be better in the long run.
-
I saw a report that quotes Heyman as saying Westburg is the holdup in a Cease trade.
-
It seems it's only logical we trade Westburg or Ortiz; Hays or Santander or Kjerstad or Cowser; Urias or Mateo. Can't we get a decent starter for those three pieces?
-
Yeah, I'd love to hear what the Orioles actually offered.
-
Just what I was thinking. I don't think his tenure in Baltimore showed or proved anything.

I was trying to sarcastic. Unfortunately, too many people still like to believe they are the really smart ones even if Fox News had to pay billions for spreading this drivel. No reason to ever bring it into a sports discussion.
