  1. No curves today. Cannot locate it. I wonder what is the injury?
  2. One of the biggest sign of an elbow injury in not velocity but it is command. So seeing both as a delta is concerning.
  3. Colton Cowser. Have a listen to the Pressbox with Eric_Birdland.
  4. #5 is wrong— my notes were abbreviated. It is his defense they do not like. Not his dad. My apologies!
  5. There were multiple sources (4) at the Caravans and the post was an amalgamation from our notes.
  6. Tidbits from the caravan gossip: beat writers / coaches / players various news comments. Big shout out to my brother and nephew for the help. 1. PA just breathes and blinks and the team will go up for sale when he dies. It’ll be a long, arduous process though. 2. Elias & Rosenbaum have all the input on lineups. Hyde manages the players. 3. Holliday will start at 2nd on opening day and Mayo makes the team bc he’s playing RF too. 4. Grod was very angry at FO by not making team. They had him change grip on slider and told him ST results didn’t matter bc he was going North. 5. They don’t like Kjerstad’s dad at all. Way too involved. 6. Good that Holmes is gone; and Flaherty hated by teammates; 7. they’ll definitely as some point get Cease; 8. they love Mateo for speed & D; 9. Ortiz, Norby, HK more likely to get traded; 10. Means will be a beast this yr; 11. players love new asst pitching coach; 12. will be difficult to extend Gunnar & Holliday bc of Boras; 13. Jordan Westburg is the one they think most highly of (by far) amongst Westburg/Ortiz/Norby and he thinks Westburg is the Opening Day 3B. 14. DL Hall likely to be in the bullpen long term. 15. Urias most likely just to get cut (maybe traded for peanuts but not sure if anyone wants to trade even that). 16. Hyde is a players coach, potentially to a fault (as in, he thinks the players walk over him as evidenced by the paltry attendance amongst star players at the Caravans this year). 17. Dean Kremer is most likely to fade out, particularly if Tyler Wells can rebound. 18. Cole Irvin was one of the nicest guys but was fully expecting to be non-tendered and was shocked the Orioles gave him $2M but still might not make the team.
  7. I wonder how much of a saving was it to sign now rather than wait for Jan 24 for the O’s?
  8. Thinking more realistically about how Mike operates, I would bet Lance Lynn is a target along with Grandel as backup catcher. Offerings would be Hudson Haskins and carter young?
  9. Could injuries be causing the cliff dive? Prior to injuring his hip on April 19th, he was hitting 370/1073. But since , he is hitting 151/540.
  10. I agree as it appears to be a Duquette construction sans the $$ fa pitcher (Ubaldo, Yovanni, Cobb). Work on the fringes to supplement the core.
  11. I have Josh Bell as the #1 fa for the O’s. 120 games at dh and 15-20 games at first. That leaves 20 to 30 games for Rutschman to dh. He would hit 4th and give ease to Santander and M C hitting a few spots down the order. M,R,H,B,S,M,H/S,W,M as the starting lineup.
  12. I believe Elias has more money to play with as the 30 million Bam money comes into play. I look for a signing of Tailon, Bell, and back up catcher by Christmas. Mullins CF Rutschman C Henderson 3B Bell DH Santander RF Mountcastle 1B Hays/Stowers LF Westburg 2B Mateo SS
  13. Tampa is a purely transactional team like the A’s. The Orioles have more resources and can be a hybrid much like the Indians or Mariners. They can lay out for one or two big free agent contracts and extend their own players. They will begin being more transactional in 3-4 years when the first wave of players gets closer to free agency.
  14. What trade value does Hays, Urias, and Akin have as a package deal?
  15. I wonder if anyone has the data on the frequency rate for pitcher injuries comparing 1982 to 2022? It just seems there is so many more players in today’s game due to injuries.
  16. Elias likes him at 2nd. Henderson at 3rd and Mateo at ss. I guess they add an of bat in left/ dh.
  17. He reminds me of Will Clark in his early years. Same type of buggy whip swing going the other way.
  18. Talent is talent. My ideal off-season pick ups: 1. Sign Taillon. 3/50 2. Sign Josh Bell 3/50 3. Trade Mountcastle and Hays for Pedro Lopez and Stallings 4. Sign Turner 8/280 5. Sign two middle relievers 6. Sign Mancini 1/10 6 man starting rotation Taillon Lopez Kremer Braddish Hall/Wells Rodriquez lineup Mullins cf Turner ss Rutschman c Bell 1b Santander Rf Henderson 3b Mancini Dh Stowers lf Westburg 2b
  19. Elias mentioned Westburg’s best position is 2b so the odds of him starting the year in Baltimore seem very high.
  20. Look at Lopez stats with the Twins. He turned back into 2021 Lopez. Maybe Sanchez is that bad of a catcher??? Elias’ return of Povich + was a shrewd move. Let’s hope he opens up the wallet this winter.
  21. Per Elias, “some players with great hand eye fielding coordination take a little longer with the bat like Jose Iglsias”. That sounds like he will keep him there a least another half year. Put Henderson at 3B and Westburg at 2B. Maybe get a bat like Josh Bell? It would great to have Turner or Correa in the 2 hole and push everyone down a slot. Mullins - cf Rutschman- c Henderson - 3B Bell - dh Santander- rf Mountcastle- 1b Stowers - lf Westburg- 2b Mateo - ss
  22. It is surprising that Norby was ranked so low. I would think a 22 yr old 2b hitting 29 hrs with + 900 ops would be in the top 100.
  23. 1. Trade mountcastle for Lopez 2. sign Bassett or Taillon 3. Sign josh bell. 3/50 deal
