  1. Here are CBS possible trade candidates. Interesting Bieber and Burnes made the list with the Orioles as a possibility for both. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-candidates-rafael-devers-corbin-burnes-among-20-players-who-could-move-shohei-ohtani-staying-put/amp/
  2. I only trade Holliday if we can get a guy like this back. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/alcansa01.shtml
  3. I agree!! We cannot be happy with mediocrity. I think we need two good pitchers this off-season. I really don’t care how we get them.
  4. I like Turner better. If you sign a big time shortstop theoretically what package around Holliday would bring back a bonafide #1 pitcher. What would it take to get the Marlins Ace? He has a great contract that would help our payroll for several years.
  5. The point I was making was that to pencil them in for 150 innings is nowhere near a sure thing. You hope they get there next year but far from a given. We need a couple of givens and not five “hopes.”
  6. Would the Braves actually trade Acuna? https://twitter.com/JimRileyLive/status/1590855347140702209?s=20&t=NyPBbqvAG2y0pMID4bG7Vg
  7. The most innings Kremer has thrown is 131. Bradish max has been 117IP. Hopefully they take the step up to 150IP. I am putting Voth, Wells, and Hall in the bullpen. I am hoping we sign Rodon and Clevinger/Kluber. Or sign Rodon and trade for a second pitcher. SP: Rodon, GROD, Clevinger/Kluber, Kremer, and Bradish (We have Wells BP: Bautista, Tate, Hall, Baker, Perez, Akin, Voth, Wells, Baumann, Krehbel. That is ten guys- great competition!
  8. Pederson and Eovaldi are the two that surprised me. The Red Sox seem to be all over the place. Paying 20 million for a lifetime sub .500 pitcher is a lot. I guess they can afford it. Eovaldi should accept. I wonder with the draft pick attached to him if he is out there for awhile.
  9. Here is who received a QO. Only 14 players- some surprises. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/14-players-receive-qualifying-offers.html
  10. This is wonderful news! This tears the bandaid off those folks hoping we would hold onto mediocrity. It’s time to have some guts and go get us a couple of good to very good established pitchers. Now if Elias announces a deal with Dylan Bundy then we have a problem.
  11. Rizzo will get a QO so I would not want him now that we lose a draft pick. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/11/yankees-make-qualifying-offer-anthony-rizzo.html
  12. I thought the goal was to upgrade our team. That is the only criteria I am using. Mountcastle and Hays go through long stretches of terrible at bats! I’m hoping Abreu takes his spot. If Cowser is ready or will be ready soon that’s the OF replacement we need. If you like Longoria go ahead and get your bag of balls together. You probably wouldn’t need many and maybe could use some used ones.
  13. Rodon, Abreu, Bassitt, and Senga look good. Clevinger for 1 year at 9 million might be good value. The same with Kluber one year at 12 million.
  14. Well in your worse case scenario he would be an upgrade to what we did offensively last year. A lot of bad numbers on there. You still didn’t answer whether we need an offensive upgrade or does it come from our farm system. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BAL/2022.shtml
  15. Well don’t get wet before it rains. Let’s see if he gets a QO. If he does, then I would not want him.
  16. Based on this list, the only one I would even consider would be JD Martinez. He might take a one year prove it deal. I prefer trading Mountcastle and upgrading with Abreu or Rizzo. When Abreu or Rizzo are playing first, it gives us flexibility for Adley or others. When Abreu or Rizzo are at DH, then I am using Stowers, Westburg, Santander, or Adley at 1B. If we don’t trade Mountcastle and acquire Abreu or Rizzo, then they are rotating.
  17. Yes…he is saving them up for us. Do you think we need to upgrade our offense from outside of our MLB team and farm system? Abreu or Rizzo would be good for me. I think Abreu might do a two year deal. He is coming off a three year deal.
  18. What’s wrong with 30HR and 100RBI? Why does he need to develop more power. Should we offer Verlander a contract? He will be 40 next year. Scherzer is 38. David Ortiz seemed to do great from ages 37-40. Jim Thome and Pujols had some big home run numbers in mid to late 30s. Darrel Evans back in the day developed big power numbers from age 38-40. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/ortizda01.shtml The offense needs to be upgraded and first base/DH is a logical choice.
  19. He has played nine seasons. He has hit 30 plus homers in five of those seasons. Six of the nine seasons he had 100 plus RBI! Weird season for White Sox and LaRussa last year.
  20. I think Abreu will age like Nelson Cruz did at age 36-38. Abreu would hit 35-40 homers in Camden Yards with 100 RBIs. Need that stability in our lineup. Plus he is a high on base percentage guy. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/abreujo02.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/cruzne02.shtml
  21. It is sometimes easier to produce when there are low expectations for the team. Not a lot of pressure in Baltimore when Trey played. He was the “face” of the franchise for years which just shows you how far we have fallen. Trey seems like a great guy and it is great to see him win the World Series. What a story! Life is great! Fighting for his life to getting a WS ring!! Whether we keep or trade Mountcastle, we do not need Trey back. He was solid for us but we need an upgrade like Abreu. That’s the veteran bat we need to help our young lineup.
  22. Any interest in signing Kluber? Threw more innings last year than he has since 2018. Might have worn down toward the end. Will he be better than Lyles.
  23. Eventually you have to take a chance. There is a risk to every deal. If you sign DeGrom for two years and he has a significant injury in the first year, he could be done basically for both years. Rodon has put together two great years in a row and is getting into his prime years. Out of those five years, I believe whoever signs him will get overall good value. I doubt he going to have a five year injury period. I think we have been bad for so long we are gun shy on everything as a fan base. It’s time to have some guts and make some moves.
  24. No way we should do that with his injury history. For 45 million we can get Rodon, Clevinger (or another starter), and a backup catcher. Or Rodon, Abreu, and a backup catcher.
