Some good info on him:
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/louis-head-joins-an-under-the-radar-marlins-bullpen/
Looks like a guy who really improved with a revamped slider, and the O's seem to be prioritizing sliders so maybe we can revamp it even more
Thanks! Love the name! Ha!

A guy who was below Tanner Scott, Cole Sulser, Richard Bleier, Zach Pop, and Shawn Armstrong in the Miami bullpen pecking order?
He is injured, so maybe not?

I suspect this is insurance should we trade a reliever. I actually don't think we trade Lopez but could see us trading someone like Tate.
Exactly my thought.

How many do you have? Seriously? Buck is awesome, albeit without Ubaldo.

I think Mancini might bring back a decent return. Maybe not a top 100 prospect, but 2-3 guys who have some potential to be major league contributors. He’s having a pretty good year and there are teams who could use a bat. I definitely would not trade him for “a warm body and salary relief.” There has to be someone coming back with reasonable potential to help a future team.
That’s definitely fair. I’d do it for a comp pick, wouldn’t you? Doubt we get that though. I guess we will have to wait and see, Mets might overpay bc Buck realizes intangibles matter.

My only thought is his low (sub .250)BA. His OBP is .329 so if he say even a 30 point increase on both would be considerable. His swing looks long at times and it appears to me that he has trouble turning on the bal. The other concern is his defense. I fully expect an outfield of better fielders than him soon. Could he split DH with Adley (on his days off behind the plate) and play the field 1 or 2 times per week as the 4/5 th OF? I just don’t see any way he’s not outta here in the next season or two. I’d be very surprised if he’s still here next month. It’s not that I don’t like him….I just think we have better that’s pretty close. And Stowers needs a chance to prove it very soon.
Good points all around. Santander's defense is def his weakest point but he has improved (albeit huge step down from Hays, Mullins, McKenna). Be interesting to see what they do.

For what its worth, MLBTradeRumors said they don't think the O's would get a Top 100 prospect for Trey:
"Still, as an impending free agent with defensive limitations, he won’t bring back an eye-popping return. Baltimore almost certainly wouldn’t recoup a prospect generally regarded as a top 100 caliber player in a deal. In all likelihood, they’d land a couple of players most evaluators view as middle-tier prospects from another organization."
I think there is an argument to be made for keeping Trey based on the intangible benefits he'll have on this young team throughout the rest of the season (confidence, experience, etc.). The argument doesn't need to be about the fans. There is a baseball case for hanging on to Trey.
Correct. You just summarized it.. The return would not be great and his intangibles far exceed the salary relief/another prospect. Now, if you could get a comp pick, then you do it but not happening.

You think begging Frobby to not be mean to you is doing your best to ignore them?
I would have thought you would have been more like Graham.
Moonlight Graham?

And the other examples I cited?
I LOVE the idea that a stupid move isn't a stupid move unless it's a super duper stupid move.
Was the O'Day contract, which led to the O's trading Gausman for salary relief not actually a stupid move?
Also, I would think that someone who is so delicate that they have to ask other posters to not bully them wouldn't be so hateful as to laugh at others.
It's very mean and I now feel threatened.
Lol ok Corn. Frobby was butting into a conversation with someone else and saying he’s tired of hearing it. Then don’t read it or ignore it and move on….I see things I don’t like and try my best to ignore them. No reason he can’t do the same.
This board man lol. Middle school theatrics.

Snell is pitching exactly at replacement level right now (or slightly below). Basically the same as Jordan Lyles. If we want that level of production in 2023 I think we can get it for less than $16M. Also Lyles has pitched far more innings so far this year.
Yeah, I am not opposed to Snell but don’t get the love fest.

Who mentioned Davis?
How did the Roberts deal work, the second Hardy deal, the second O'Day deal, the Trumbo deal?
How did the Miguel Cabrera deal work out for the Tigers? Strasburg for the Nationals?
2-3 year deal for Trey isn’t the same as a Strasburg deal lol. Senor Strawman says hi.

I think you move Lopez if the offer is too good to pass up but I don’t think that offer comes, so I keep him.
Much more willing to move Tate because I think he’s pitching over his head.
I agree with this 110% And also Perez who has been lights out (what will the return be realistically though? Is it worth it?)

Do they still get the comp pick if they tender him in the offseason? If so I think you simply weigh the trade offers against that.
I believe (not 100%) that they did away with the comp picks in the last bargaining agreement. Can anyone confirm that?

Anyone that was going to be alienated by a move like this has already moved on.
One of the worst things a GM can do is make moves to please the fanbase.
How often does that work out?
At the end of the day the fans want the team to win.
apples and oranges. Chris Davis contract does not equal giving Mancini 2-3 year deal.

Look, I thought Lawlar was a better choice than Cowser on draft day, and said so at the time. But will you stop beating a dead horse?
Not everyone thinks Lawlar is the bees’ knees. Eric Longenhagen has Cowser at 43, Lawlar at 64. Lawlar had a .327 OPS in his debut week in Hi A last week, Cowser is currently rocking a 1.082 after two weeks of AA.
Again, it’s not that I disagree with your opinion. But enough already!
I literally said in the post, I bet you know my opinion already with a smiley face? I was not talking to you. That is incredibly rude Frobby.

Please stop Frobby, I brought it up because I was responding to another poster who clearly didn't know my opinion. You weren't in the conversation. I am not going to be bullied on what I can and can't post.

And based on the fact that Cowser and now Kjerstad are coming fast. It would be more valuable to trade Stowers as a young big league player rather than a buried prospect.
You make sense. It is a tough decision (tough decisions) indeed. I just think Santander is on the verge of a blockbuster year or two, superstar break. Could I be wrong? Of course! Tough decisions there.

He is a hero to many and just an absolute class act. I was lucky enough to watch him through the minors.

Logical Orioles trade in mindset of buying & selling at same time?
Send Anthony Santander back to Guardians for pitching. Namely, Peyton Bettenfield. Stick him in the Rotation immediately & promote Kyle Stowers to replace Santander
Swapping Bats for Arms works for both clubs

14 strikeouts in 14 games against okay college pitchers. No home runs for someone who's being touted as a power hitting 2B. I did applaud him for playing in this league. The bat has to be SPECIAL. Again, maybe it is, but in his first test against advanced pitching he has not excelled. When he goes to A ball eventually he'll be facing tougher competition than he's facing now. I can see Druw Jones getting a lot stronger and getting a lot better. Is Termarr going to get a lot stronger and bigger than he already is? Maybe, but the attraction to Termarr is that he already is a great hitter.
Johnson lol. If he’s the pick, we are in trouble.
