  1. I think Mayo's future position is directly related with what we do with Ryan Mountcastle. We got Mounty for 2 more years, if we decide to keep him. Does the timeline work out that the Adley/Basallo catcher split allows the guy not caching to DH or 1B, and Mayo takes the third (1B/DH) spot?
  2. I think Webb was kind of gassed last year by the time the playoffs rolled around. Dude has spotted a 2.40 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 2.90 FIP, 44 K's in 41 IP for us. For a guy that's expected to be like our 5th best bullpen arm you take that every day.
  3. Robert doesn't strike me as a player Elias would seek out. A guy who's basically never been healthy who we'd have to pay 20 million a year?
  4. I've always thought the difference between "ace" and "#1 starter" is more to do with the established history and relatively injury free reputation. Someone is an ace if they have done it for years putting up the numbers and consistently pitch 30+ starts. A #1 starter has the stuff but might have had some injury derailing seasons or inconsistency (Cease).
  5. He's the worst. Has he ever provided any "inside" information that wasn't completely made up? I completely enjoyed how it seemed pretty obviously EDC/Ravens fed him fake info on the Deebo Samuel rumor and JLC immediately ran with it, then tried to put EDC on blast. Nobody is trading a #1 overall prospect like Jackson Holliday, much less for Luis Robert who has never played a full season and is currently hurt as it is. What's most irritating about him is how smug he is about all his opinions. He's like Keith Law, except he has zero credibility that would give him any sort of validation for his opinions.
  6. Hays, Mateo, Urias, and Holliday represent about 15% of our teams PA's (218 of 1514) and have 12 walks combined. Their combined OBP is like 23% or something like that. It wouldn't be a stretch to say only Holliday is really going to be a future fixture of the team and he will/should be a very good OBP player.
  7. He's going to need to work through it. If we believe he's an everyday player like Gunnar and Adley, we need to allow him to work through it like they did.
  8. Doesn't it seem like every HR Santander hits either gives us the lead/ties it up/etc?
  9. Without question Westy is the guy you want at bat in a big spot. Gunnar and Adley of course are right there with him, but the dude just has ice in his veins.
  10. Ryan Helsey is the guy we want. We'd get 1 1/2 years. Throws gas and checks really all boxes.
  11. Also, I am just ruling out Cowser and Westburg because I think they are clearly not being traded (and Holliday for that matter).
  12. I think Oakland has every reason to keep Miller unless we trade one of our "top" pieces. If they are willing to trade him at all. Those top pieces being Mayo, Kjerstad, or Basallo. For us, I think Kjerstad would be worth it since he gives basically zero defensive value compared to the others. However, you know that is also the clear third ranked player that Oakland would probably want. So it comes down to who else needs to be in the trade.
  13. Bednar would be the Elias move I'd expect if his perception/numbers are still a bit shaky by the time he's traded. He still has a lot of swing and misses, he's just been barreled at an alarming rate.
  14. I said elite stuff and no command. He has had neither in like a month. I'm not sure what you are cherry picking from what I said that would mean I was incorrect.
  15. I think Kimbrel is in his 15th year and no longer has elite stuff. If you don't have elite stuff AND your command sucks you aren't going to get many outs. Even well before today, I've thought we need to be bold and make a trade for a true closer. Now? It's not even bold... it's a necessity if we are serious about winning a WS.
  16. F these jerseys man. Please never wear them again.
  17. I feel like Burnes has allowed a run in the 1st or 2nd inning in every single start.
  18. If the DBacks (continue to) fall out of contention would they trade Ginkel? 2 1/2 years left. He'd be an awesome set up guy for Bautista next year and the dude didn't allow a single run in last years playoff run. For this year, he could step in as closer or set up.
  19. Two good bullpen arms is not the same as a great one. We've got a handful of good relievers. We need a great one.
  20. We need to be bold and make a trade for a "real" closer. I'm just not confident we are legitimately going to compete/win a world series unless we make that move. We have a bunch of B and C relievers. A former A isn't going to cut it.
  21. I know Webb has frustrated here and there, but I generally trust him. He's like the right handed Cionel Perez.
  22. Hey now he's only the second worst umpire in the game. Cut him some slack.
  23. I think this was the case for past Orioles teams. The 2012-2016 teams. Cortes tore us up in 2022, but that was a very inexperienced team. I'd expect better with the type of hitters we have now.
