  1. Lorenzen was an effective bullpen guy before he recently switched to starting. If we get lucky and Means/Bradish are healthy, he can go there and still provide value. Not sure that's going to be the case with anyone else we'd sign.
  2. It certainly isn't exciting, but if we aren't making a trade and aren't paying for Snell/Montgomery who is still out there?
  3. I don't think Lorenzen is a particularly great pitcher, but he's a guy that has experience in several different roles. Given our budget, he may be the best option left (if Ryu is headed back to Korea).
  4. Lefty bullpen project? His minor league numbers look good. Was one a 1st rounder, so the talent I would think is there.
  5. Burnes Rodriguez Kremer Ryu Wells/Irvin To start the season that is perfectly acceptable until we get Means and/or Bradish back. If Means is looking at the end of April to be back, you probably only need 3 starts from Wells/Irvin to get there.
  6. We don't need to entertain Bauer right now, there are plenty of better pitchers with no baggage still out there. Not even guys who will cost a ton.
  7. I'd trade Westburg in a package to get Luzardo for sure. 3 seasons of his arm is a lot of value. It really depends on what else would need to be in that trade package. Since we already sent off Ortiz, the depth becomes thinner pretty quickly. It would probably mean Holliday is on the ML roster to start the season, which is obviously fine. Would something like Westburg, Beavers, Povich, + get it done? Or we would rather do Cowser, Norby, Povich, +?
  8. Mayo playing passable RF defense would really help settle our (likely) future spots for everyone.
  9. I really think Ryu is the best option. He'll be nearly 2 years removed from TJ surgery at the start of the season. Career 3.27 ERA. Familiar with AL East. Lefty. Can probably be had for a one year deal given age/injury? I think we need to accept the fact that we are not paying for either Montgomery or Snell.
  10. Maybe there's a Miguel Gonzalez out there.
  11. I don't expect us to pony up for Snell or Montgomery. Maybe if they, for whatever reason, decide a 1 year deal is OK but seems pretty unlikely. I think Ryu or Lorenzen on a 1 year deal makes sense.
  12. The connection is that our organization asked our team if they were comfortable brining him in. I'm not sure how I can make this any more clear.
  13. The comparison was only about the clubhouse being comfortable bringing him in. That's why I specifically mentioned that in my post. They are obviously not the same thing.
  14. If the clubhouse is comfortable with Bauer I'd say go for it. Didn't we do something similar with Nelson Cruz? Granted that's roids vs. sexual assault.
  15. I think Holliday can be a 280 hitter right away. It's tempting to delay the service time, but our window is now and he may give us an extra couple wins in that 6-8 weeks just being an everyday player from the jump. In the AL East that's too valuable to lose.

college basketball is head and shoulders above the NBA, which has become an absolute joke.
  17. I think they come right out and see if O'Hearn is the 2023 version of himself or the previous years.
  18. It's tough for me to envision a scenario where none of our young outfielders make strides to where a Hays extension makes sense.
  19. Only a one year deal, but in the end Ortiz had no spot here and Hall is almost a lottery ticket at this point. Draft pick is a draft pick. That's quite the trade for a guy who can win a CY.
  20. Cole might be the only guy in the "Ace" category currently. At least with the Verlander/Scherzer/Kershaw era guys getting older and less reliable. There are probably about 15 "#1 starters" and then a whole mass of pitchers that are everything from a #2-#5 depending on personal opinion including our own Kremer.
  21. I think we have identified a grouping of players we are willing to trade and just waiting out CWS to agree to a package within that. Elias has a line in the sand with the top X rated guys and just isn't going to trade them, at least not for Cease.
  22. Right now? Probably nobody. I'd definitely try DL Hall in that spot. We need to sign someone or trade regardless, someone will inevitably get hurt.
