Recommended Posts

Trucks threw 2 no-hitters in 1952.

He also won 177 games in a career that was interrupted by World War II, went 1-0 in 2 games started for the World Champion Detroit Tigers in 1945, led the league in shutouts twice (once in 1949 [6] and again in 1954 [5]), and led the league in strikeouts in 1949 (153.)

His highest M.V.P. finish was in 1953, when he pitched for both the St. Louis Browns, and the Chicago White Sox. That season, he won 20 games, had an E.R.A. of 2.93, and had 17 complete games and 5 shutouts.

Trucks was 1 month shy of his 96th birthday.
