    • I said something about his defense early last year. He is a fantastic defender. Very quick off the mound to pounce on balls. Early on last year I think his throwing was a little off but generally the fielder caught the ball. Seems like he’s ironed that part out as well.
    • Only if the relief pitching is an elite back end, high leverage guy who is clearly better than what we already have back there. Or a solid bullpen piece (Akin caliber) with options.
    • I think this is a great debate subject and have learned a ton just from reading this thread.  My personal opinion is that I just don’t care on the Holliday front.  Even if he has to wait for September or next year, that’s ok with me.  I trust the club to do what is needed and best.   I don’t know much and am pretty ignorant overall.  I’m not saying this is right, correct or based in fact, but from what I saw, he didn’t seem close to ready.  The defense was not good enough and the swing had Swiss cheese like holes in it.  A bad strike call would ruin entire at bats. I think he has a very bright future and is an awesome player, especially at his age, but he needs growth and maturity in all phases in my opinion.
    • OK, so it’s never happened.  FWIW, last year Cano had 20 assists, tied for 10th in MLB.  All nine ahead of him threw at least 52 innings more than Cano’s 72.  Cano had far more assists per inning than anyone ahead of him on the list.  And, he made no errors.  I’m not going to press the GG case too hard, but I just wanted to call out his excellence as a defender.
    • @Frobby often mentions Mayo’s fielding percentage at 3B when discussing if he believes Mayo can cut it at 3B.  I noticed that Mayo’s up to .937 but I also notIced that Mayo’s 26 games this season compare favorably to Westburg’s 93 minor league games at 3B. Westburg .944, 132 A, 13 DP, 2.11 RF/9 Mayo .937, 52 A, 7 DP, 2.85 RF/9   This isn’t to say Mayo would be better but, statistically, he’s racking up more assists and DP’s per game.
