  1. Wasn't Aberdeen where bats went to die last year? Or at least slow down a bit?
  2. Obviously in hindsight Gunnar would have been an excellent 1:1 pick. Having Adley at 1:1 and Gunnar at 42 is even better. Plus they ended up with the 40th pick in the draft... we'll have to wait to see how that plays out.
  3. That's exactly what I meant!
  4. I was referring to stacking maybe a couple of extra wins against what had been perceived as the easy part of the schedule. I get your "meh", but pace really doesn't mean as much just yet. Let's see how things go over this next stretch vs teams like NY, Arizona and Seattle...not that it means the season is on the line or anything, but they're moreso the type of teams that will still be relevant in August and September. What I said wasn't meant as a complaint. I'm pretty sure that I wasn't alone in being surprised at how well Milwaukee and Pittsburgh played.
  5. I was rooting for the local guy in Gelof, but hopefully he comes back healthy later down the line. 16-8 to start the season out hasn't been too shabby, but I had kinda hoped for a little more in the early going. They definitely should take 2 out of 3 vs an inferior opponent like Oakland.
  6. I'm not smart enough to extrapolate the numbers out, but if he can come in at a high .700's to .800 OPS that would be far better than I expected after his brief appearance last season. 12 of his 20 hits have been for extra bases. 8 walks to 21 K's haven't been bad either. I'm not sure what is considered respectable in a walk to strikeout ratio though. You are correct about 3 walks yesterday.
  7. I finally had a chance to watch the defensive play...wow! It's been amazing watching him grow into the player he's becoming. As silly as this sounds, there's still probably another level as he goes along the aging curve.
  8. I've been on the Westburg bandwagon since him and Gunnar showed up at Delmarva. All of them were in and out of low A so fast that it's hard to remember now, but Westburg left a pretty good impression there. Westburg I believe will be a fairly consistent.825-.850 guy. Because of his style of play, I don't think his valleys will be as low as some others. Cowser is another guy that could consistently be in the.825+ range, but I think he's going to have periods of frustrating the fans. On the other hand, when he's on it's going to be awesome like it was recently...not that he's been bad lately either.
  9. Hopefully Westburg is putting a stop to all of the nonsense about being a roaming position player now. I remember reading that Elias had no interest in including Westburg in a Cease trade.
  10. I actually agree with you on that. There's certain people that post long ones that I'll take the time to read...most of the time I just skim by.
  11. I'll be glad when he starts hitting so this crap gets put to bed. The Orioles have become a pretty good organization at drafting and developing picks. There's no way that he cruised through the MiL's to rework his swing after less than 2 weeks in the Majors. My wife is a psychiatrist so I'm not going to play one here...of course he's overthinking right now. All of that will go away when he gets a game with a hit or two and some hard contact. There's really no benefit to send him down right now.
  12. My question to the folks that want to see him back in AAA is, what happens if he goes down and hits, but gets called back up and struggles again?
  13. I wouldn't go to that extreme about prospects, but until proven otherwise prospects are the only way that they will be able to extend any window of competitiveness. The new ownership could change our perspective, but we don't know yet. Any trade would really need to be for someone with more than 1 year left.
  14. I guess we were watching a different outing.
  15. He's had some moments where he's looked decent this season but tonight wasn't one of them. Everything looked like it was on a tee tonight.
