  1. I was just showing other bad moves, not to say any of these were worse than the Yaz move (which to his defense, no one saw coming). Time will tell on Frazier, but we don't need to discuss the merits of his signing once again. Our positions are well known by a quick post search though this offseason. lol
  2. If he's worried about getting the 31-year old years of Westburg and Ortiz then the Orioles have bigger issues than we think financially.
  3. Unless he's missing camp time dealing with this old case, I don't see why that would make him not appear in a game. Just seems strange if he's totally healthy why he would not have thrown an inning yet when all other relievers outside of Bautista (who is recovering from injury and will probably start the year on the IL) have thrown multiple innings. He's older so maybe they have him on a different plan. Just seems like something I would ask ore report about (assuming I talked to him) about if I were down there in the press.
  4. It's good to see him working out there. If he can be effective over there, it lessens the need to keep anther 1st base type hitter on the roster and can use that spot on a more versatile player like Vavra.
  5. What does that mean, "legal issue?" Where did you see this reported?
  6. I was wondering that myself when I updated the spring training tracker. Has anyone in the media even asked about Givens or discussed him pitching in side games?
  7. Unfortunately, it's not. And after this season, we will have a bigger mistake to discuss. That's not to say Elias is bad, but you can definitely argue signing and then playing Odor all season, not getting anything of value back for Castro, then playing Aguilar as mistakes to track as well. Clearly, we don't know how the Frazier signing will turn out, but paying him $8 million when he had Urias, Westburg and Vavra ready and Ortiz potentially ready won't make sense unless Frazier tears it up and those guys struggle this year. At the end of the day, there are those who do believe Elias and his crew are infallible, but they are not. He's done an excellent job in packing the farm system with talent and I like his first real "prospect" for major league player trade with the Irvin-Hernaiz trade, but he still has a lot to prove when it comes to putting a perennial winning/playoff caliber team on the major league field. That will come with time.
  8. Did you really just bump a thread from two years ago? lol
  9. Good luck to the young man. Every interview I saw of him suggests he's got a good head on his shoulders and should do well.
  10. Eh, I guessed when I saw the top EVs. lol
  11. Hard to not get excited when your top pitching prospect show up this soring averaging 98 MPH on his fastball and hits 99 MPH while being caught by a young switch hitting catcher who hit's a 107 MPH HR.
  12. Updated through 3/1 Bad day for Mullins with an 0-for-3 with 3 Ks. Irvin, Voth, Akins, Perez debut.
  13. I'll be honest, I like Vavra a bit as a utility guy, especially when the Orioles will have three guys on the roster (Mateo, Henderson, and Urias in a pinch) who can play SS already. If Vavra can show he can handle 3B, he gives the team some flexibility of moving Henderson over to SS against a particularly tough righty on righty guy. Vavra also would be a decent pinch hitter for Mateo, McCann, Urias or even Hays against a tough right-handed reliever late in games. He would look a lot better as that guy if Frazier wasn't in the mix and Westburg/Urias was the main second baseman. while he doesn't have that "pop" off the bench that a Diaz, O'Hearn or Mazara would have, he provides a lot more positional flexiblity than they do.
  14. It's definitely another reason I'm bullish on him. Everything I've read about him or from him indicates a young man who works very hard and will maximize his potential.
  15. I have really never seen such a bipolar team as MD when it comes to home and away. I don't know if it's a poor away routine by Williard, a group of players that have issues flying, or just players who can't handle away crowds. I've never seen anything like it honestly. This team is a sweet 16 team at home and AAU level team on the road. At this point, no use even watching them when they are on the road. They are awful there.
  16. Great on her. Plus for him, I think it makes him look sharp!
  17. It's nice, but never make assessments on early spring performance.
  18. Just in case you needed another reason to root for this young man.
  19. Welcome as well. We hope you will enjoy the board.
  20. Career OPS as your evidence? Seriously though, I think Holliday is going to be special but I think he may get put on the Gunnar schedule with a start at Delmarva to get him off to a good start before going to hitter's hell in the Sally League.
  21. Welcome to the forum and thanks for introducing yourself!

    Aron Estrada 2023

It will be interesting to see some minor league lineups during spring training to see where/if Estrada is playing. If he's getting a lot of PAs with Delmarva or some PAs with Frederick, the I think he has a shot at starting at Delmarva.
  23. I hate to stop conversation, but the player 2023 posts really ought to focus on performance information, scouting, and current thoughts, not to restart any draft pick conversations. It's eight spring training PAs through the first four games. Literally the definition of an extreme small sample size.
