  1. I should be good today, but does anyone want to step up and help out tomorrow and Tuesday if I can't get in and create posts for each draft picks?
  2. I'm guessing something leaked for TJ to jump that high. I like it though. I think he's going to be stud hitter.
  3. With the first overall selection in the 2022 draft, the Orioles select Jackson Holliday, - SS - Stillwater HS (OK). Please put all information and reaction in this thread. Not in other general threads! https://www.mlb.com/video/2022-draft-jackson-holliday-ss?t=mlb-draft https://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=590150 https://boardroom.tv/jackson-holliday-mlb-prospect-overview/ https://primetimesportstalk.com/2022/05/08/mlb-draft-profile-jackson-holliday/ https://www.mlb.com/video/draft-prospect-jackson-holliday https://www.mlb.com/video/orioles-draft-ss-holliday-no-1?t=mlb-draft Initial Take: Hard to argue with the pick even though Druw Jones was widely considered the best overall prospect in the class. Holliday looks about 12 years old, but his game is considered mature in almost every area and he hasn't even grown into his man strength yet. If he can realistically stick at SS (Elias says they think he can) then this pick makes a lot of sense since the system does not have a legitimate long-term SS prospect (Henderson is going to be better at 3B). He will always be compared to Jones, Termarr Johnson, and Elijiah Green who were the other top High School hitters available.
  4. Yes, I thought of Weams as I was building this year's tracker! He was great at this stuff.
  5. Ok, I'm going to close this thread soon and create a 2022 MLB draft thread for the draft. Please remember, please post information on Orioles draftees in their thread.
  6. This Draft tracker will be updated throughout the draft. Each player will get his own draft thread (will be linked to his name here) where posters can discuss and post information on the player. 7. The old 32-year old rookie who the Orioles thought was 29-years old until he had to get a passport to go to Japan with the team. Snell was such an interesting story who had to overcome racism in the South in the late 60's, turning down two separate offers from major league teams, getting taken in the minor league portion of the Rule 5 draft, and being released all before finally making his debut in September of 1983. If anyone wants more on Snell, check out out his great bio on Sabr at https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/nate-snell/ .
  8. Scott is such a classy guy on top of it all. I'd like the Orioles to find their crew and stick with it next year. Kevin Brown should be the new Thorne. He's play by play for every game unless he has something else going on nationally. Then I think Geoff Arnold is the back up guy for PBP. Scott is perfect for the in studio stuff.
  9. Tough day for Lyles. just no command of anything really. Looks like he could use some time off for sure... Hopefully Baker can eat a few innings here.
  10. I think he can play there, but just won't have the range that you would really want. Saying that, I haven't watched him a ton this year defensively.
  11. Mountcastle with a bloop to pick up Mancini!! Wow.
  12. Wow, really awful PA by Mancini.. Really, really awful..
  13. Odor in his wondering veternage got picke off when Matteo pulled back on a bunt attempt.
  14. Gotta get Mullins moving.. Get out of the DP with Mancini.
  15. Yep, that's what I read too. i was just saying the arm should be fine.
  16. I'm starting to get convinced that there could be lighting issues at some of the parks as well. Now I haven't watched one at bat of Kjerstad with Aberdeen yet, and I'm sure there's a bit of an adjustment period, but it does seem strange that players seem to go stone cold when they arrive in Aberdeen.
  17. Over his last 9 games (36 PAs) Cowser is slashing .344/.417/.781/1.198 with 4 HRs, 4 BB and 6 Ks. This is his best power output of his professional career. At Bowie he's got a 30.6% LD rate, and yes, his fly ball rate is still low at 25%, but his FB/HR ratio jumped to 55.6% from 10.*% in Aberdeen, which should tell you a lot about the two parks and league.
  18. Funny thing, when you look at the numbers for arm strength in perfect game he's got a better arm than Jackson Holliday and is not too far off from Jones.
  19. I'll be honest, I can't get too upset no matter who they take since they have more info than me, but Termarr Johnson has the best stick and statcast numbers and actually has a better arm than Holliday who has stagnated over his last few years. Drew Jones will be hard to pass up since he has better speed and may get a look in the infield as a pro, but if Johnson saves you some $$$, I think he's a great choice. Plus he's a better fit for Camden Yards.
  20. Not his thread, but what Hernaiz is doing there is impressive.
  21. All I can say is that he's playing like the guy the Orioles hoped he would be when they drafted him. Really would like to know why hitting Aberdeen was so hard. Is it the lights in the league? I know he was taking too many pitches early on, but he also was swinging through a lot of hittable pitches. Doesn't seem like he's doing too much of that now. Quite the amazing turn around and why you can't bury talent too far down when it struggles for a bit.
  22. Plus, Adam is a really good dude. He's a unique fun listen.
  23. I don't know this for sure, but I'm fairly certain Elias lost some key guys he wanted to spend that money on when teams took those overslot guys. I think he got beat a bit in hos own game and ended up knowing he need to spend some money, and dumped it on a high EV guy like Willems. The book is not written on Willems but he's off to a pretty bad start. I think that's the risk you take when you do this. Now, saying this, Cowser is now hitting pretty well in AA including showing some power so that book is not written yet either. I don't do a lot of predraft analysis of picks so I can't say definitively whether I would have taken Lawler over Cowser, but it's hard not to like where Cowser is trending now that he's been able to go back to his hitting style.
