  1. I'm thinking they add Martin. He's earned another shot and at least brings some speed for late in the game pinch running.
  2. It's an interesting thought. If Stowers was on the 40-man it would be a no brainer, but we know how Elias has been with bringing guys up if they're real prospects and not on the 40-man. I think Stowers, if he's eligible to go, would be a great idea if one of the players that can't go is one of the starting outfielders.
  3. I'm going to reopen this thread but it must stay on the subject of the Orioles losing the players and what they will need to do. I do not care about your opinions on the vaccines and they do not need to be shared here. The fact that people were downvoting different opinions is embarrassing and you need to look inward when it comes to different opinions. Snutchy made the right call to stop this for a bit because clearly some of you can't help yourselves. Again, if you want to talk about what the Orioles will do without the players on the field, great. Any comments about the players decision will be deleted or the vaccine will be dinged and deleted. Thank you for your cooperation as we focus on the Orioles on the field activities with no politics.
  4. Yes, fly down to the Dominican Republic and see if you can get into a stadium.
  5. Pretty impressive. It seems like his late arrival had more to do with the Orioles organization babying their pitchers than it did with him not being ready for Low-A. Wonder how old he'll be before the Orioles let him pitch 100 innings in a season?
  6. Is that some kind of snide comment towards what I said he was doing in Bowie. Please remember, just because a guy hits a home run does not change what he WAS doing at a previous level. I realize it usually only takes one good game or even one at bat to make you break out your orange and black pom poms, but try not makeking dumb comments towards stuff I've said before because you just make yourself look foolish. How about you just enjoy the kid's run instead of trying to make snide remarks that have no bearing on what happened.
  7. Exactly.. Really nice to see a legitimate breakout impact player.
  8. in his teams all have losing records besides Aberdeen. the pitching at Delmarva at times has been beyond awful. There were guys that should not be pitching in professional baseball.
  9. Well the current group is not a high bar to jump over.
  10. From the tracker on this year's signings. The Orioles 2022 J2 signing class: Braylin Tavara (CF) bonus $1.7 million million (video) - "He is one of the most well-rounded players in this year’s class and has a chance to be a five-tool player with above-average grades in the future. At the plate, the lean and athletic 16-year-old shows a good approach and sound fundamentals with improving pitch recognition. Like most prospects his age, Tavera’s swing is a work in progress, but he already has good bat-to-ball skills and emerging power that projects to be a plus tool. He can run now, and the run tool is also expected to be a plus tool if he continues to develop at a normal pace. He continues to improve as a defender. “He does everything easily and effortlessly,” Koby Perez said. “He is a player who was highly coveted by most of the teams in the league, and a lot of it had to do with us offering an opportunity. Us not having given out these types of bonuses in our history, it makes the player, you know, feel special to be the highest-paid international player. I think that really helped us land Braylin, because there was definitely a lot of competition for his services. He ranks No. 18 on Baseball America’s listing of the highest projected signing bonuses in this class and No. 22 on MLBPipeline.com’s listing of the top 50 international prospects. ” César Prieto - 22-year-old Cuban infielder ( $650,000) (video) - "The athletic Prieto has shown good instincts, and the ability to play multiple infield positions. Think of him as a super-utility player. For now, it’s Prieto’s bat, not his glove, that provides him most value despite questions about his power. He’s considered an average defender at second base with room for improvement." Leandro Arias (SS) - (video) Switch hitter ($600,00) - "Arias, a switch-hitting shortstop, has power potential from both sides of the plate. He has shown good bat-to-ball skills and has been praised for his overall hitting ability, including his advanced approach at the plate. His emerging run tool projects to be solid to average. The 16-year-old is still fine-tuning his actions on defense, but is expected to have enough arm strength and the skills necessary to keep him at shortstop as he makes his way through the Minors. Arias was ranked as the No. 46 prospect on the MLBPipeline.com top 50 prospects list. He’s a 16-year-old switch-hitter who gets 50 and 55 grades from MLBPipeline.com. " Edwin Amparo (SS) - (video) switch hitter ($650,00) - Very similar to Arias. Can play Short. Targeted him early. Has the arm to stick at short. Once considered a 7 figure player. Thomas Sosa (OF) - (video) ($400,000) - Really like the approach, bat to ball skills. Wasn't being showcased at the time. "Gregory Polanco" body type. Can hit run, hit for some power. Adrian Santos, (SS) Dominican Republic -($285k) RH, 6-3, lean. Has a good arm at SS. Maybe some power Jean Mata (OF) - (swing video, video) - Venezuelan - ($210,000) Big game player. Lot of hit, can really run. Raylin Ramos, (OF) Dominican Republic - ($200,000) - Physical tools, some power. Yirber Ruiz, (OF) Dominican Republic - ($200,000) CF, switch hitter, good runner, good performer. High profile who's market came back. Aron Estrada, (INF) Venezuela - (175,000) Switch hitting INF. Defensively has a way to go. Good athlete. Henry Tejada, (RHP) Dominican Republic - (165k) - RHP. 88-90, pitchability. More in there. Cristian Benavides (SS), Venezuela - ($150,000) Good looking SS, some power, Right-hander. Tall and skinny. Average arm Edrei Campos, (SS) Dominican Republic - ($150,000) Straight bat. Keeps getting better. Got stronger. Got him late when his market fail. Not as polished defensively. Elis Cuevas, (SS) Dominican Republic - (150,000) Switch hitter SS. Chance with the bat, defensively improving. Good tools. Development guy. Jean Carlos Martinez - (OF) - (125k) Big strong guy, really athletic guy. Paperwork issues, age issues but cleared by. Andrés Nolaya, (C) Venezuela - ($100k) Athletic catcher. Really good arm. Plays outfield as well. Can really run. Jesús Palacios, (RHP) Venezuela - (90k) Feel for three pitches, 87-90, t91. More in there when he gets strength. 6-2. Juan Peña, (RHP) Dominican Republic - ($75k) - Good change and slider, run it up 92. Command comes and goes. 6-1. José Noguera, (C) Venezuela - $50,000. Defense first catcher, some strength. Adrián Delgado, (RHP) Venezuela - ($50,000) (RHP) , runs it up 93 MPH. Command comes and goes. Fernando Peguero, (SS) Dominican Republic - ($50k) Switch hitting middle infielder. Undersized. A performer. Can run. Ezequiel Bonilla, (RHP) Panama - ($35,000) Pitchability strike thrower, run it up 88-91. Alfredo Velásquez, (INF) Venezula - (20k) Undersized, INF, probably 2B. Elías Moscoso, (RHP) Venezuela - (10K) - Undersized Righthander. Good arm. Andrés Parra, (LHP) Venezuela - (10k) - Pitchability lefty. Ronal Hererra, (RHP) Dominican Republic - (10K) - RHP, can pitch up to 92-94. Miguel Mesa, (RHP) Dominican Republic -
  11. Lots of movements this week. I can see about 3 to 4 being added from the FCL and DSL next week. The question will be where?
  12. No arguments from me. He's focused on developing how he sees fit.
  13. I don't think Elias does any movements of players based on the fanbase.
  14. First time I've even heard of Portes. Tough to get anything off the Shorebirds camera angles though. Man i wish the Orioles affiliates below Norfolk would have center field camera angles for the batter/pitcher matchup. Seems silly they won't do this as it can't be that much money. Let's not get into the ridiculousness of Cal Ripken's Ironbirds and their no announcer broadcast unless the visiting team let's their announcers go on the road. How embarrassing to be an Orioles legend and have such an embarrassing broadcast for your affiliate.
  15. Sedlock has a nice changeup. That's it. Everything else is really bad. All of his pitches have below average movement on them and his fastball is in the low 90s. I'm happy for him that he got his chance to pitch in the majors. He'll make it through waivers no problem and I doubt he'll be back.
  16. Lol, Garceau called Bradish, Karl Bradish!
  17. I don't have a clue on what they see. High spin guy I guess, but his expected numbers are awful, so it's not like he's been unlucky. Doesn't throw all that hard either. Seems like a headscratcher.
  18. Tavera's has almost frisbee horizontal run and some vertical but Grayson's is more vertical. They are probably the top two in the system.
  19. Tavera may have the best changeup in the system. Paired with the his 94-95 MPH fastball, he could be a solid bullpen piece. Right now his slider is his 3rd pitch and while it can flash average at times, it's not a great major league pitch. Saying that, I've seen him throw a perfect inning with just sliders and changeups.
  20. One of the things I've liked a bit is that the West Coast teams have been starting their game times earlier when East coast teams come into town. Saying that, I tend to agree that new Geographical Divisioning would actually be a good thing.
  21. Now that the universal DH is finally a thing, I'm fine with it as well.
  22. I pointed out this in another thread. While Mullins has not been the All-star player he was last year, he's still an average to slightly above average player.
  23. It's going to take years for us to really determine whether Elias' process works or not. I don't scout the amateur players so I don't have a strong opinion on who Elias should have taken. I judge by how those players do once they are pros. Cowser has not looked very good this year. Trey Mancini did not look good in his first full season and turned out pretty good. It's disappointing that Cowser is the not the fast moving college outfielder he was written up as by many sources, but the book has not been written on him. It's way too early to write him off yet or say Lawler is better.
  24. You need to first stop saying "this board" as if the entire board feels one way. We have a diverse group of people with different thoughts. You want an echo chamber of fanboys, try out Twiiter.
