  1. They have to talk about something. I don't think anyone can claim anything other than the team should be better than it was before the deadline for no other reason than Eflin, Rogers, Dominguez and Soto brought arms that this team needed. Anything Jimenez and Slater give the team will be a bonus. I like Slater a bit because his defense looks pretty good and he's a better hitter than McKenna was. The fact that this team doesn't have Suarez, Povich and McDermott in the rotation is a good thing. Hope fully Suarez can refind himself as a once through the lineup reliever. If not, the team may need to consider McDermott in that role.

    Max Wagner 2024

It was definitely a lost year for Wagner who has never really shown sustained success with power at the professional level. Maybe it was back related for awhile, so hopefully he can get things fixed and be back next year and become a prospects again.

With as many typos and bad grammar I use when typing quickly and not rereading my stuff, I wasn't going to pick on ya for that!
  4. Unfortunately this system has not drafted and developed not one pitcher yet. Forget starter, they haven't produced a middle reliever yet. Now if people want to give them credit for developing Bradish, ok, he did become a different guy after coming into the system. So is it drafting? Are they not targeting the right arms? Are they waiting too long in the draft? I don't really know, but I agree with you that the system has to find ways to draft and develop starting pitching talent because while Reilly was a good get for Billy Cook (who is defensively challenged and doesn't have the pop to make up for it), he's got pretty strong reliever vibes and and 92-95 is nice, but it's not impact reliever nice.

Very well could be. I'm pretty sure this is the first time Elias has jumped a DSL player to Delmarva in midseason. Pretty interesting and I'm glad to get a chance to put eyes on.
  6. Updated through today's promotions and rerankings.

    Promotions?

It's Simon Leandro, not Alberto unless he's had a name change.

Morfe with the huge jump from DSL to Delmarva. I'm looking forward to seeing him pitch now.

I'd be shocked if he got pushed up after the season he had this year unless he showed up in spring training and looked like a totally different guy. He was still very young for the FCL, but his numbers overall were a disappointment, even if they were ankle related.
  10. Strowd's statcast numbers really belie the awful numbers he has put up. I thought he really found something with the cutter and improved command, but once he hit AAA, the command went. I haven't looked of late to see how they are hitting his cutter, but it was pretty much unhittable to AA hitters. Sometimes though, that jump to AAA really shows the difference between AA and AAA hitters. I don't think he ends up on the 40-man because of his numbers, but he's still worth keeping an eye on.
  11. It does, and I've been critical of this as well. I also think it's a learned skill to warm up fast and pitching with less days rest or sometimes on back to back games. No one knows this until you put a guy in a relief role. I've always understood developing good arms as a starter at first in order to get them more experienced with their pitches and command, but at some point, a call has to be made and they should develop them for the role that they seem better fit for. I see too many Orioles minor league pitchers starting and being inconsistent because they really only have two good pitches yet are trying to throw 4 and sometimes 5 different pitches. Then they wonder why guys like Povich and McDermott have command issues.
  12. This is trolling and not allowed here. You did it twice up to this point. Please stop.
  13. It will stop a few people from saying that over and over because they get most of their takes off the sports opinion wasteland of "X". Saying that, some fans are impressionable with the "what have you done for me lately" attitude. I mean, most people were not fans of the Jimenez acquisitions and after the last two games they suddenly love him. Of course that was asking for him to be DFA'd after he struck out Mountcastle style in his first at bat. I guess I don't understand why some people seem to either not understand some fans, and why they generalize a ridiculous take and make it seem to be more of the norm. I guess that happens in the political stream too where it's easier to make a meme off a far left/right take vs the more even keeled approach felt by most. Holliday has obviously looked much more comfortable at the plate and this time time did not let a few outrageously bad calls to get into his head. To me right there, that was growth in a young player.
  14. Amazing what two good games will do for your rep around here with some folks! I'm rooting for him to have a resurgence with the Orioles and become an Orioles legend as he leads this team to a World Series! Saying that, I expect him to fall back into a guy you only want facing left-handers, but that's what he was acquired to do.

I think Jordan Sanchez (19) as the most likely to skip the FCL, but Elias has never done that before. Frederick Bencosme is probably the closest and was also 1i when he barely played in the FCL before getting his Delmarva promotion.
  16. He looked good overall, though the Bowie from the pressbox camera view a bit from the 1st base side is not a great camera angle to judge pitching. He got a lot of swing and miss on his fastball which according to the announcer sat 92-95 MPH. His command is not great and missed up a decent amount. Didn't really see many changeups but again, hard to tell in that look. He has definitely bullpen vibes based on his delivery which has a bit of effort from a high overhand delivery. But Bradish was similar until he was reworked so too early to say that for sure.
  17. Really weird. They clearly were out of readily available pitchers which should mean they'll promote one or two from the FCL most likely unless one of the drafted guys is ready to go.

The Orioles have typically been slow to get their recent draft picks signed into play and with draft pushed so far back now, maybe be another week or two before we see Honeycutt. Some of the guys that signed quickly though could start popping into games this week or next depending how they look down in Florida game shape wise.
  19. Controls the strike zone well enough, started to add a little pop into his game, moves well on the go but not a burner on the bases so won't steal bases at the major league level, probably going to end up at 2B or the outfield due to his arm and quickness not being great for SS. Appears a bit taller than his listed height and definitely more weight as listed in BBref. He's only 19-years old and has out performed his high dollar counterparts in his class. It's be nice to see how he does in his taste of Aberdeen. Similar to Bencosme but with more pop and less hit tool at the same age.
  20. Man did I miss anything while I was gone?
  21. Lol.. You've become quite the crybaby. Thanks for proving my points. Here's the thing, you probably don't realize how little I care about your opinion of me.
  22. Not a heads up play by Gunnar. That should have been an easy DP.
