  1. I've got a good feeling about this season.
  2. Given a choice, I'll take better production over better talent. What does preferring talent over production even mean? We lose more games, but look better doing it. Sounds like you're making a News Max invalid deductive argument.
  3. Beautifully written Roy. Your words speak for a lot of us who were touched by his kindness and inspired by his example. He was one in a million and there will never be another quite like him.
  4. He also brought in Eve Rosenbaum as Assistant GM.
  5. Elias must be playing some kind of 3-D Vulcan chess with this move.
  6. I think Mateo should concentrate on crowding the plate and inducing more HBP to up his on base percentage.
  7. There’s a lot that could be said, and has been said about Peter Angelos and his ownership of the Orioles. But as Tony has pointed out, now is not really the time for that. I remember when Angelos bought the team and how relieved and grateful I was that someone from Baltimore was buying it and was committed to keeping it in Baltimore. I’m not from Baltimore, but I spent three years living near there when my Dad was stationed at Ft. Meade. He took me to my first Orioles game at Memorial Stadium when I was 5 years old in 1966 and that was the beginning of a lifetime bond with the city and the team. I’m profoundly grateful that Angelos kept the team in Baltimore. I'm glad someone who was such an integral part of the life and fabric of the city ended up owning the team. He was a larger than life character, and faults and all, he was as quintessentially Baltimorean as Old Bay Seasoning, Blue Crabs, and Natty Boh. RIP Mr. Angelos.
  8. I'm more excited about Mayo, but I'm glad to see O'Hearn is having a solid spring. Gotta like the nearly 100 point difference between his .306 batting average and his .405 OBP.
  9. You left out pitching. He can't pitch, either.
  10. It's as if there's a correlation between performing well and ticket sales. Best get the boys down in the lab working on this.
  11. But wait. You don't have Apple TV??? If we didn't need it Apple wouldn't make it for us. Sorry... I'm an Apple Fan Boy from way back. But seriously, if I didn't have Apple TV anyway it would be frustrating. I live in Charleston, WV so Baltimore is about a 7 hour drive for me so MLB TV is a must for me. I probably watched more games on MLBTV last year than I ever have in the past. I did enjoy the Apple TV coverage as a change of pace.
  12. If Albert and Andrew Suarez make the team, what do they wear on the back of their jerseys?
  13. I beg to differ, sir. They have both have pitched 5 scoreless innings, and their first names both begin with "A."
  14. I don't just like this trade a "little." I like it a lot!
  15. I should have known you were a brown sugar pop tart guy. Suddenly it all makes sense! #blueberrytarts4life
  16. I had forgotten about Burleson. Between him and Evans and Lynn we had quite the appetite for past their prime Red Sox there for awhile.
  17. When I was looking at Baseball Reference the other day, I was reminded that Rick Sutcliffe had played for the Orioles near the end of his career in 1993 and 1994. Rick won Rookie of the Year when he came up with the Dodgers in 1979. In the course of his career he went on to win the Cy Young Award in 1984 and was a 3 time All Star. He didn't have HOF numbers, but it got me to thinking about other stars who earned their fame with other teams before playing for the O's for a year or two. Of course everyone remembers Reggie Jackson spent a year in orange and black before donning the dreaded Yankee pin stripes. There was also Sammy Sosa and former Boston stars Fred Lynn and Dwight Evans. Who else am I missing?
  18. Who do we get for the rotation for $8.3 million?
  19. Good news. They've expanded to handle most auto repairs. They're not just about tires and brakes anymore!
  20. Dude, you're literally quoting, without attribution I might add, political activist Richard Hanania. I think @DrungoHazewoodhas the best take on this question and it's solidy baseball based. https://www.richardhanania.com/p/womens-tears-win-in-the-marketplace#:~:text=Some evolutionary psychologists argue that, mechanism based in group selection.
  21. Now when he says "play there," what do you suppose he means?
  22. Is it possible for something reported in the media to be true if we don't want it to be true?
