  1. All things being equal, I'd take a pitcher or a SS. But all things aren't equal. It's Frank. He was one of the all-time greats.

Very true. Tbh, I've been taught to use that strategy at work with clients.

But how long does one have to prove himself at each rung? I think Adley has proven pretty much all season that he's better than all of the catchers at Baltimore. And Grayson's earned a promotion a long time ago - still in AA where he's long been a man among boys. Seems like an absurd situation, tbh.
  4. Do I get to have $150 million in the bank before making the decision?
  5. I'm so use to criticizing Stewart: Way to go DJ, you finally hit one, but nobody was on base. Big help!

Send him back to Sam Houston U.
  7. It's hard to say if that was something like ADD - or if he had simply given up by then. Probably a combination of things.
  8. And Pedro Martinez vs Don Zimmer for the Hall of Shame.
  9. Ok, now I see what you're getting at. I was the same way with Chuck and Bill - couldn't wait to get past Bill's innings so I could hear Uncle Chuck. Man, Chuck had such a great delivery.
  10. At least I can understand where you're coming from there - as opposed to Steve's comp of FP to Bill O'Donnell. I think Carpenter's dry old-school style works really well with FP's more youthful style. Together, they blend really well.
  11. Whoa, Bill O'Donnell was even far more bland than Carpenter is. At least on air, I don't remember him ever trying to show a sense of humor. As far as FP, I guess we just have different tastes, but I couldn't think of anyone who's more different from him than Bill O'Donnell was.
  12. O's are saying, See that - less than 100 wins later, and he might already be done. We told ya so.
  13. What is it that Carpenter does that's so bad? I'm asking so I can learn to be more cynical and jaded.

Ted Williams? What? The only suggestion made was that he should be playing at a higher level now.
  15. All good points. And I think Santander does have a better eye at the plate. I give Hays a small advantage because of his ability to play CF, and I really enjoy watching him play the OF.
  16. That's how I read it, but we'll see.
  17. That's also the way I've seen it. While Hays does get it - he says the right things in interviews about being selective - he's got to walk the walk (so to speak) much more often.
  18. I didn't say he should. I made a point of saying it's his choice.
  19. If Davis contributes his 2022 salary to charities, I think that would be the one gesture that could rebuild his relationship with Baltimore. It's an enormous amount of money, but he can afford it, and he didn't earn it. It would be a wonderful thing to do, but it's his money and obviously his choices.
  20. With Hayes being in roughly the same situation, it'll be interesting to see which one ends up with the better season. Both seem to want to go down swinging - other than health, it'll probably come down to who is more willing to be selective at the plate.
