  1. If that's Dave Parker, it'd have to be after reconstructive facial surgery.
  2. Looks like the Crime Dog, Fred McGriff to me. Definitely not Parker or Griffey.
  3. I don't think we get anything more than a low level prospect for Trey. Sorry to keep using Atlanta examples, but the Braves basically got an entire new OF at the trade deadline for essentially nothing. And the few times i've seen him play defense this year, I think he's lost a step - he's a DH at this point, imo. I doubt we could get Givens for him, and there's no reason to want Castro - he has great stuff but seems to have no idea where it's going. I think Santander's a keeper, but let's see how he finishes the season before making a decision on him - and get a diagnosis about his ankle - It still looks like he's not running near 100%.
  4. Good. If there's a salary cap minimum in the next CBA, the O's are going to have to find a way to reach it.
  5. The first time I thought they'd win it was... in the 9th inning - when Wells came in there looking like a real closer. And some day, he might come in - in a closing situation - what a concept.
  6. I was watching on tv. That crowd was loud! Definitely the best fans in the world.
  7. Back to Santander - 1.131 OPS in August for 20 games. 75 at bats and only 2 walks. So, yes - that means he must have a high batting average - .360.
  8. Amazing that they feel they have nobody else to put in there this early in the game. What a disgraceful pitching staff.
  9. The guy's gonna turn 26 on September 10th, and he should be in MLB by then. Teams rarely wait till a good prospect is 26 to promote him to the Majors. I realize Covid hurt the progression, but it's time to start seeing what we've got with him.
  10. Agreed - I don't care if they call it Burger King Field at Popeyes Stadium - as long as they have a good on-field product. Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind having a Popeyes in the stadium. I'm guessing that the biggest new source of revenue will be... from legalized gambling.
  11. Good question. Not all abuses are illegal. And I'm guessing there will be all kinds of abuses that won't be illegal - until they write rules/laws to make them such.
  12. This isn't what I'd normally expect a Major League Baseball frachise to get involve with, but Atlanta's doing it. Braves sign UGA, Georgia Tech athletes to NIL deals (ajc.com) NIL (name, image, likeness) deals could become somewhat lucrative for the better known athletes. Guessing boosters will abuse things like this to get their favorite athletes to go to their schools.
  13. Guessing it's a beauty contest rather than a baseball decision. Gutierrez looks like a stud at 6'2 215 and all muscle, while Bannon's 5'8 180.
  14. I think Jones will play 2B, while Urias and Gutierrez share 3B, and Matteo plays SS. Actually, Urias will probably play some at all 3 positions - depending on which of the 3 others is doing the worst.
  15. Martin's done a fine job... of losing any chance he had of being the O's SS of the future - just too many mistakes for a player who doesn't hit well. Honestly, I think he has the talent to be a low end starting SS, but for whatever reason, his concentration seems to wonder far too often. I don't think the O's have ever considered McCoy as anything more than organizational depth.
  16. That's a lefty compliment. Franco can't hit, and Nunez can't field. Nunez is like a poor mans' Mancini.
  17. I hate to be negative, but I thought Elias did classic GM non-news on Kjerstad. Hopefully... he'll be ready to do what in Spring Training?
  18. Pardons if this isn't the best place to post this, but I thought it was somewhat relevant. MLB Reportedly Proposes $180M First Tax Threshold $100M Salary Floor - RealGM Wiretap I would love a 100 mil salary floor.
  19. Wow, that's who I had in mind - I didn't think others would agree. And remember, he would have come up as a shortstop - but the O's felt that Belanger was too valuable to move.
  20. And if you could add 1 Oriole HOFer that's not on the top 5 list above and not Mussina, who would it be?
  21. Martin's a talented player, but he needs to cut down on the mistakes - not just on defense but also running the bases. For a very fast runner, he's not a good baserunner. The recent time he did a pop-up slide at 3rd base was a prime of example of what you should never do when you've easily beaten a throw. The 3rd baseman kept his glove on him and got the out only because Martin bounced off the bag. We would have had runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs.
  22. That's the lineup I suggested a while back. Obviously, they pay attention to my posts.
  23. This. It's reached a point of absurdity. The last couple of months, they've continued to play him while he's been injured... or is there another reason he's been limping to first base on every fair ground ball he's hit? A lot of things that have gone wrong can be reasonably explained, but there is no reasonable excuse for continuing to play Franco at 3B while he's injured.
  24. 30 you say. So, if he was drafted by the O's, he'd be in his 2nd major league season?
