  1. It really does depend on the day, but all things being equal, I think it's Sulser's job to lose, and he will likely lose it - but he's had a nice year, and so have Tate and Fry.
  2. It probably wouldn't hurt to have that cat show up again during today's game. Heck, bring that cat to Baltimore and bill it as part of the show - for the 8th inning stretch. Make the umps try to catch him.
  3. 3/40 would be far too much, imo. He'd be just a good solid DH and occasional 1st baseman for the O's. Players like that are not in high demand.
  4. If that's true, the O's probably shouldn't be in the professional baseball business.
  5. Yeah, he signed a 6 year deal there for $7 mil - rather than try again in the 2019 draft - must not have thought he'd be a first round pick again. Man, that stinks for Rocker. Hopefully he comes back 100% healthy.
  6. It's amazing how 1 bad defensive play can kill a team like the O's.
  7. Fun in the same sense that the Saw movies were fun.
  8. It's a good question, because Galvis doesn't have a SS's arm and probably makes more sense as a 2nd baseman, imo.
  9. Sorry, meant to say at least they ARE going all in on their approach.
  10. Yeah, that really surprised me. Letting Harper go made sense, and then not fighting hard to keep Rendon wasn't unreasonable, but not even trying to keep Turner... well, at least they aren't going all in on their approach - getting rid of all their valued veterans and getting some top prospects in return. They chose a plan and went all in on it - gotta respect that. And that's why they're likely to bounce back.
  11. My thinking is that as long as Westburg is viewed as a SS, Ortiz should get as much reps as possible at 2nd base - when healthy obviously. It's not in Ortiz' benefit to be a competitor to Westburg, because Westburg's a higher tier prospect. But I could be wrong.
  12. So have a 3rd team involved that takes Hosmer and pays 10% of his salary.
  13. Sorry, I have preconceived notions that won't be changed. You might as well be telling me math shows the world is flat.
  14. I said I wouldn't argue but I lied. The 5th place batter won't get up as much as the 3rd place batter, and the obvious thing a team should do is get quality 1st and 2nd hitters to make it even more obvious that the 3rd place hitter is considerably more important than the 5th hitter. Douglas Adams had a great quote that doesn't quite fit but is good enough: "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."
  15. That seems nonsensical, but I won't argue.
  16. Thank you. I hadn't read it, so that flew over my head
  17. I'm guessing that's clever or insightful, but I don't get it.
  18. One indication that the O's have some positive belief in Grenier's bat is that he's been batting 3rd in Bowie's lineup - which is a pretty decent lineup. But his hitting has been gradually declining for a while now. At some point this season - if he keeps declining, I expect he'll be far less a priority for them.
  19. People are talking about him as a 4th OFer. How is that getting "so excited"? And he's certainly a better defensive OFer than Rickard - who actually did fit the description "defensively adequate". I have no idea about Mason Williams. There's nothing wrong with saying that McKenna's a very good defensive OFer. He clearly is - from everything I've seen and read.
  20. And he came in the game as a pinch-hitter in the 8th - walked and scored the 6th run pulling us within a run. Then comes in to play defense and gets the walkoff walk. Doing just what you want from a 4th OFer.
  21. Just a simple miss spelling (Tori?) caused all that?
  22. I would have understood it if the pitcher was a very good control pitcher, but that guy was all over the place and clearly had awful command, and the ump wasn't calling any strikes low in the zone when I was watching. Walking Mancini made sense to set up a DP, but then walking a young free-swinger like Mounty to load the bases made no sense.
  23. Speaking of 10 games at a time, starting July 17th (my father's 90th birthday), they are 7-3. Has the tide turned (as they say in Norfolk)?
  24. What a great moment for Neustrom. I think he's the next guy up - if there's a trade or injury - or if they think it's time to give him DJ Stewart's spot.
