I personally wouldn't have given up anything of major value for him. I don't really think anyone on here would have. My main point in responding was that the poster seemed to be taking Elias to task for not getting Verlander.

He 2nd only to Bradish in WAR for the season. That's obviously an improvement over Irvin or even Grayson.

I don't think they should but at the same time I really don't care. It wouldn't upset me, yet I wouldn't really celebrate it either. I think the Orioles are right in the sweet spot of retiring numbers. It should be exclusive and not done for every Tom, Dick and Harry that played for you, like the Yankees or Celtics.

Sorry I just don't get this. They're 3 games over 500 and like 4 games out of the last wild card spot. They trade away good prospects for rentals, when they know they aren't going to resign Ohtani.

Perhaps if it was a legit nickname that was actually being bestowed upon said player. This is just the Orioles Twitter account (and I guess Kevin Brown at one point) trolling. No one actually refers to him as King Felix and no one is actually trying to make that nickname happen. Talk about making a mountain (no pun intended) out of a molehill.

Could be. Or it could be that no one attends the games and the team doesn’t make any money to be used to pay their favorite players. Since 2000 they’ve averaged 11th in the AL in attendance.

And yet they still can't get anyone to come to the games. Since 2013, the highest they ranked in attendance was 9th in the AL. The vast majority of the time, they're dead last.

I doubt any GM in their right mind thinks like that. If Gunnar had come up and hit like Cal, there's very little chance that Elias would be like, "Oh I have to promote player A, B and C also because they'll probably hit like Eddie". It's just as likely that he's thinking, "Oh Gunnar has come on slow, I can't promote anyone else because they'll adjust slowly as well." Now the overall point of not filling the entire roster with rookies is probably on point. I just seriously doubt that Gunnar's success/lack of success has anything to do with that, which has been pointed out in this thread.
