  1. For the most part I love MLBTV. Especially with the no spoiler function. I can turn on a game and speed through it until I get to real time. The only thing I hate (being up here in CT) is that I get blacked out of games against the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets. VPNs haven't been able to really defeat the blackout, though Norton 360 seems to work well for my laptop
  2. I have no problem with advertising on the sleeve, because I'm 100% confident that all of it will go towards increasing payroll.
  3. Bingo. They should have done that this offseason.
  4. Meh... I think it cheapens the stat. How many bases would Ricky Henderson or Lou Brock have stolen under the new rules?
  5. I'd much rather Elias come up with a few plan A's for 1B that don't involve rummaging through other teams' castoffs in the offseason.
  6. Any chance Mayo could move across the diamond to play 1B?
  7. I always thought the "reason Kjerstad was picked no. 2 overall" so that the O's could go overslot on Carter Baumler in round 5.
  8. I miss Harborplace in all it's original glory. So many awesome memories there.
  9. Thanks for the info. Whether it's Angelos or Elias, it's still BS
  10. I could be wrong, but I thought it was a sentiment expressed in Angelos' January event for the CollegeBound donation. Or at least in a follow up. Either way, It's a BS sentiment to suggest, "We'll increase payroll when people return to downtown and attendance grows."
  11. Absolutely. I understand that there is so much going on in the way of revitalizing the Harbor and downtown area. The city is trying to increase traffic and business and revenue beyond just putting fannies in the seats. But that takes years to develop. And Angelos keeping the payroll at a far extreme low relative to all ballclubs? If it's a chicken and egg thing, thats' like having a sick chicken or a rotten egg on one side of the equation
  12. I'm too lazy to look up direct quotes, but I thought Angelos has communicated in the recent past that the O's would increase payroll if fans returned to the ballpark (and downtown generally). Seems to be to be a bass-ackward way of running a baseball team. It should be... invest dollars in a better on-field product, and fans will come.
  13. Maybe Wells could also fill the role of multi-inning reliever?
  14. After Akin's so-so 2nd half in 2022, I'm wondering if Hall can beat him out for the multi-inning role.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up a transfer or two as well.
  16. I believe it's possible that fans would emerge and support the team. There are plenty of advertising dollars and eyeballs and ticket revenue potential in the 5 boroughs, not to mention Long Island. The snag wouldn't be fans IMO. The snag would be the Yankees and Mets crying over lost revenue and market share.
  17. I've always thought that the monster payrolls/revenues of the Yankees and Mets show that the greater New York area could easily support another team. Maybe even a second one if you place it closer to Boston (another monster revenue stream). I know the Yankees, Mets and Red Sox would aggressively fight it to the end, but bring baseball back to Brooklyn. Put another team in Hartford/Springfield.
  18. And... they go to Michigan State and go down 15-0 to start the game EDIT: They've played good defense and pulled even at 38-38. Good to see them fight back.
  19. As I said, I think the narrative is correct. Just wondering if there is anything that shows Duquette's role in the final stages.
  20. The https://www.camdenchat.com/platform/amp/2019/4/9/18303386/orioles-chris-davis-contract-peter-angelosidea that there might have been a world where the Orioles did not go beyond either four years or $100 million to sign Davis is like a punch to the gut for me. Imagine how much less miserable all of this would seem now if this was the last year of Davis’s contract. He probably would have been cut loose long before he could get himself into his current 0-49 ditch. So if I read that correctly, it says that Walters went on the record, saying he advised Duquette on Davis' value. And the article also cites "voices within and outside the organization" but they didn't go on the record. And while the author says "we also know that Walters and Duquette were 'dismayed' that the Orioles might sign Davis", he doesn't offer a source for that statement. Like I said, I think I lean towards agreeing with the idea that Duquette wasn't involved in the signing of that awful contract. But I wish we were able to read something definitive from DD on the truth.
  21. I think I agree with you, and I'm not trying to be a noodge. Just wondering if anyone ever went on the record saying that DD had nothing to do with the Davis signing.
  22. Any concrete evidence you can show to support that?
  23. Wasn't he the GM? Why wouldn't he be involved in the signing of that contract?
