  1. I don't think it's a matter of "promotion". I think he will start some games because somebody has to eat innings and his arm is still attached to his body.
  2. Cavalry: Building a Pitching Prospect Pipeline - coauthored by Andy McPhail, Dan Duquette, Mike Elias
  3. I was under the impression it was a really good trash can
  4. Machado is earning $32 million a year with a sub-800 OPS. I'd bet SD has a little of that regret percolating.
  5. Exactly this. What is the alternate more appropriate detail laden version of "What Hyde should done" for yesterday's game?
  6. Crazy game with how things can turn around... Mountcastle's OPS by month Apr - .515 May - .748 Jun - 1.187
  7. You know you're not a good hitter when Pat Valaika pinch hits for you.
  8. Hey... at least we kept them from converting the extra point
  9. It was off the end of the bat into no man's land. Santander ran hard staring straight into the sun, and he almost made a great catch.
  10. DJ Stewart reminds me of the quote I believe was aimed towards Luis Polonia... "If you hit 100 flyballs to Luis Polonia you could write a book about it... called Catch 22"
  11. Good Lord... at least it didn't hit DJ in the head this time.
  12. Not a good sign when he is your cleanup hitter
  13. Is it just me, or does this pitcher have a foreign substance on his right sideburn?
  14. If Lowther had just pitched better and gotten hitters out, it's likely this thread wouldn't be a thread.
  15. In the 90s the hitters demonstrably cheated, but they were hitting HRs and filling seats and capturing eyes (and ad revenue $$) on TV. The pitchers are now the cheaters, but MLB is quickly responding because the pitchers are striking out hitters in emptier ballparks and who wants to watch a dearth of HRs on TV? Sorry pitchers... chicks dig the longball.
  16. The answer to your questions are no. The answer to the question "Is he a build around player now" is TBD. Maybe the correct question is "Will some team overpay for him at the trade deadline based on this season ala Gerardo Parra?"
  17. Another cool thing... Grayson finished a few innings with strikeouts. Adley, instead of heading to the dugout headed towards the mound to give an attaboy to GRod, the two of them would walk to the dugout together. Very cool to see the connection Adley has with pitchers.
  18. Sure... he was slightly shaky in the first inning, with a few Hartford hitters making solid contact to put up a run in the first inning. Might have been a location thing, because GRod came out throwing 98-99. After the first inning he settled into a groove with all of his pitches and the hitters seemed overmatched. He works fast, not a ton of wasted movement in his delivery. Reminded me a lot of Mussina to be honest but higher velocity. And Adley's glove was POPPING.
  19. I was at the Baysox game in Hartford. Smith looked really good, along with some schmoe named GRod. ?
