  1. Or it could increase his trade value.
  2. I have a solution if they drive you nuts... don't listen to them.
  3. I'll be happy if I can remember anything that happened 30 seconds ago.
  4. Looked like easy power with an easy swing,
  5. Could you imagine the complete chaos that would ensue if Aaron Judge gets called out on strikes to end the World Series because he couldn't get ready for a pitch in time? Or Devers? I'd pop pocorn and read the meltdown on SoSH with glee. (of course, I'd hate it if it were an Oriole)
  6. Or even the inverse... a bases loaded walk because the pitcher didn't deliver a pitch in time. Ya, that would even be far worse than the All Star game that ended in a tie.
  7. Personally I can't wait until the World Series ends on a called strike three because a batter didn't get ready in time.
  8. I know it's just anecdotal, but I recall Cal coming up in 1981 and not looking like a guy ready to hit ML pitching. SSS but he went 5 for 39 with no extra base hits, slashing 128/150/128/278. He obviously adjusted in 1982 and a HOF career ensued.
  9. So... I suppose I'm an "arbitrary internetty people"? I've been called worse. Maybe I'm not clearly stating my position. I want to be as excited about the pitching prospects in the system as I am about the position prospects. I look at Gunnar, Holliday, Cowser, Westburg, Mayo, Kjerstad, Ortiz, Norby, Beavers, Basallo... and totally see them as every day players. Then I look at the pitching in the system. Bradish, Kremer and Wells look promising but they haven't proven they can perform over a full season. Then you have GRod (slam dunk), then Hall (with command questions), then a few maybes in Povich, Johnson and McDermott. I just don't have the same sentiment towards the pitchers. So for me, the excitement over the position prospects is tempered by my arbitrary internetty opinion that more pitching needs to be injected into the system, via trade, international signing or draft.
  10. Bradish had a good half year, which is surely promising. Povich, McDermott and Johnson seem more like projects with some promise. I admit "prime" is somewhat subjective. I'll suggest prime pitching prospects would be expected to be at least a #3 starter on any ML team, pitchers that would be top 10 prospects in any system, pitchers that would make us as giddy as we feel about our top position prospects.
  11. I think you and I are on the same page. Use the organizational depth to infuse the system with talent. IMO adding pitching should be prioritized.
  12. I'll tell you how I would aim to escalate the team's rise... start adding pitchers to the organization. IMO it's the Achilles heel of the farm system. We have positional prospects out the wazoo. But outside of GRod and Hall (and maybe Povich now), who do we have that is really a prime prospect? Elias needs to address this big time.
  13. I always thought it was Dewey, Cheatham and Howe
  14. Unless there is some extreme season ending injury to Mullins, I think Hays can cover the position. I suppose the primary focus is whether someone else can provide more overall value than McKenna (who I'm assuming is replacement level at best?). What are the options and what is the real tradeoff?
  15. I've always thought that the value of McKenna's ability to cover all 3 outfield spots was way overstated. Does he really add so much to the team with respect to defense that can't be replaced or improved with other outfield solutions?
  16. Heston, Terrin and Lewin sounds like a personal injury law firm
  17. I miss Three Buck Nights at the old Memorial Stadium. And we used to put a 12 pack of Natty Boh in one of those old water cooler/jugs And yell at the opposing LFer all game.
  18. Will it take more than just Mateo to get that type of deal done?
  19. Pay no attention to CoC. Sometimes he likes to poke bears just to see if they stay asleep or awaken.
  20. He won't make the team and doesn't have to. I want him to do so well this season that he jumps up the prospect list (top 30?) and earns a full time slot on opening day 2024
  21. Absolutely. I almost believe that Kjerstad is the forgotten first round pick. Really hopeful that he can put in a stellar MiL season so that he forces the O's to stick him in their lineup by the start of the 2024 season.
  22. Exactly. 20/20 with 80-90 RBIs probably gets him ROY right?
  23. Kjerstand smacked 2 HRs today in the opener and went 3-3. Gotta like that start to the Spring EDIT: MLB.com says both were to the opposite field.
  24. Heading into 1996, when Angelos went on a spending spree. Alomar, Surhoff, Wells, Myers. (right?) If I recall correctly, they almost landed David Cone too.
