  1. Babe would have had more, but he kept hitting them over the fence. ?
  2. "We'll try to stay serene and calm... when ALABAMA gets the bomb." ?
  3. Perhaps, if by "decent returns" you mean "players to be named later".
  4. Do the Phillies sell those seats to fans for the cutout? Do they have a similar pricing tier for the premium seats? If so, creative revenue generator.
  5. From the article: Encouraging, but hope we get to see that applied after a call up... soon.
  6. Don't really feel the need to defend anything. ESPN's power rankings are subjective, and I'm pretty sure that over the years they haven't perfectly lined up with win-loss records. Who cares at this point if ESPN ranks the O's 30th or 29th or 25th or whatever? In the end they aren't a good team (in my opinion), they just had a good week.
  7. Could it be because the O's are not a good team, and ESPN is not fooled by an 8-game stretch?
  8. I think you're right. The way Slater wrote the tweet suggested that they allowed someone to lick all the water bottles in the locker room.
  9. Have you actually watched when Chris Davis tried to bunt? It really didn't go well.
  10. "You gotta draw the line somewhere! To hell with purple people! Unless they're suffocating, then help 'em!"
  11. I predict the O's will win every game in which they score more runs than the opponent.
  12. Exactly. Be grateful for the opportunity to see baseball again.
  13. I remember that game! That game was definitely a turning point. I remember thinking "Orioles Magic" was alive and well. So painful to watch. And not just to fall out of contention, but to spectacularly fall all the way to 7th place? That was one of the worst years as a fan (for me).
  14. The 1986 team pulled to within 2 games of 1st place Boston in early August, then finished 14-42 the rest of the way to finish last in the AL East. Brutal crash.
  15. I agree with you, MLB will take precautions, but I just wonder if they can cover all the bases (no pun intended).
  16. There are precautions that Walmart takes to control a cashier's interaction with customers, including facemasks, a healthy supply of hand sanitizer, plastic shields, etc. A Walmart cashier also doesn't have to hold a runner on first or have a runner sliding into their cash register. I just can't see this going the way that they expect. Who knows, I could be wrong, European soccer leagues are in full swing with no fans, and there is all kinds of non-social distancing going on there.
  17. I actually expect the chances of completing the season at 25%. What do they do if a player/coach/staff tests positive? Wouldn't every player have to be quarantined at that point, forfeiting games as a result?
  18. My answer to the thread's question is "Nobody", because I'm sensing that there will be no baseball in 2020. Partly due to Covid-19 risk, but mostly because the owners and players will never get their act together.
  19. Everyone gets their own section Dibs on all of Section 54!
  20. This post should totally be a podcast. I'm dead serious. Morons... all of them.
  21. They might be able to mitigate the colder months by having all playoff games be at warmer climate neutral ballparks.
  22. Agreed. My point was that for a time Prior seemed like a fantastic pick until his arm did fall off.
