Just spitballing. Mullins can't seem to hit anything right now, Hays was nothing special. Stowers had some success left on left. Why not give him ABs against a LH? He's going to be worse than Mullins?

I'm wondering if the comparison is Stowers vs Mullins (or even Hays) against LHs.

He wasn't perfect but I thought he filled in well for Hays. Now, if he had only barreled up a ball or two...

I actually thought he had a very good game last weekend in LF.

Sacrilege! 1st and 3rd and one out, I can't think of anyone who I would rather have a ground ball hit to them than Hardy. Except maybe Belanger.

He can play anywhere too. I wouldn't hesitate to put him in the outfield in an emergency.

What was the time from 1st to home on that play? How fast was he running? (I don't know where to look that up)

I think you're overthinking it. IIRC there were like 3-4 players (Holliday, Jones, Johnson, Green?) that could conceivably have been chosen 1:1. Elias took who he thought was the best player.

Just imagine if we had an actual closer to anchor it all on the back end.

I'll just take the politician's path.... I misspoke. Perhaps a better question would have been... Is Stowers likely to do better against LHs than Mullins? Perhaps a 700 OPS or better?

Does Stowers has good reverse splits? I hate having Kjerstad as the odd man out, but what about playing Hays/Stowers against LH and Mullins/Cowser against RHs. If Mullins continues to slump could Cowser also share time in CF?
