  1. Hope he gets to spend some quality time with Martin.
  2. So, Ps can play like PPs, but PPs can't P unless it's an emergency. Sounds like they need more restrooms.
  3. Appreciate that. So, what I don't understand then is why players have to meet certain criteria to be 2-way players.
  4. There's never been a rule about limiting the number of pitchers on an active roster before, either. Now there is. I didn't make up anything, I just asked a question because I wanted to know the answer. No need for you to be a dick about it.
  5. That was before teams had to designate players' roles as part of the 26-man roster.
  6. In the American League, pitchers don't usually run the bases. It could be against the rules for an American League pitcher to serve as a pinch runner.
  7. Will pitchers be allowed to pinch run? Doesn't happen much anymore, but Palmer did quite a bit of pinch running in his career, even as late as the '83 playoffs.
  8. Also, cheating is allowed unless it works and you're caught by the media.
  9. It's foggy in St. Pete; how about in Sarasota?
  10. And now Breyvic Valera has been DFA again. Can we resist?
  11. The league gave all the players immunity in exchange for their cooperation. They can't go back and punish them now. They can establish new rules and punishments for future infractions, and they also can come up with ways to make it more difficult to cheat this way.
  12. I think using the Codebreaker machine learning app in conjunction with video to decode signs in real time seems to go a step beyond the time-honored tradition of stealing signs. Of course, I could be wrong about that. But it sure is getting a lot of play since the WSJ story broke.
  13. As we have now learned, Astros management didn't just know this was going on, they spearheaded the effort by using the Codebreaker app to decipher opponents' signs. Codebreaker was introduced to Luhnow by an intern. Luhnow put it into use. Luhnow reportedly would go into the video room and ask the personnel there if they were codebreaking. It was a top down scam. I don't think the league (which is the owners) want to punish players for doing what their management told them to do.
  14. Wear it straight for a fastball, to the side for a breaking ball, backwards for changeup.
  15. There's got to be an Independent League team where he could be a star.
  16. It wasn't really a progression until we got to Hays. Until then it was just treading water.
  17. You guys make it easy to find something else to do when you snipe at each other over petty crap like this. You're both wrong ... you're both right ... who cares?
  18. True, but we just added a bunch of pitchers via the Rule 5 draft, trades and waiver wire pickups. Yet we release utility players instead of pitchers. And in his blog this morning Roch listed Armstrong as one of the probables for the bullpen in 2020. I just don't get it.
  19. He looks like a big nothing to me. I don't see why he's still on the team. He would have been one of my picks to DFA in December. Am I missing something? Is there any reason for him to still be on the roster other than the overall lack of big league pitching talent on the team?
  20. Bloom and Friedman know each other well from years working together as execs in the Rays front office.
