  1. Let's also remember that Denny Bautista - well, it wasnt much of a loss in the end.
  2. Sports has always been a part of politics, politics has always been a part of sport. They have never been separate, the only thing that changed is who is allowed the mic.
  3. MASN should be broadcasting Towson, Morgan, UMBC, Coppin, Howard, Richmond, Mason, Bowie, Virginia State, Loyola games.
  4. Oh its terrible - but when it works it does in fact work (I just have to borrow my mother-in-law's Comcast login). Please just give me a reliable streaming option.
  5. If they are pairing that hat with a new "retro" jersey alternate that uses the pre 95 Script, like the late 70's late 80's script. That would be INCREDIBLY nice.
  6. I appreciate that the family kept games affordable, always had a lot of discount nights, always let us bring our own food. I really appreciate that, in recent years, the org has done a lot more to embrace Baltimore as a city and a general vibe than it has in the past.
  7. I love this as an alternate cap, especially if it replaces the O's hat.
  8. Agreed, I love when the Orioles and A's play on a Saturday, best uniform combinations on the field that baseball can put out.
  9. I think Mateo and Flaherty were my big misses as well.
  10. I think he gets the spring to show consistency, I would give him April but a short leash.
  11. All I want for christmas is a standalone streaming option that doesn't require me to use my Mother-in-law's comcast login.
  12. Yeah this feels like a fine deal. The taxpayer money in question was money that was already spent that the team now just has access to. The team was never going to move under this ownership, no one was threatening that. That was the one thing I never really worried about with Angelos (Pete or others) none of them seemed to have any appetite for entertaining any move of the team.
  13. This is certainly the case, but him acknowledging that conversations have taken place is a good sign that the organization is willing to extend these guys and spend money.
  14. yeah. I think Dean is an overall average pitcher that can show flashes and streaks of brilliance but ultimately can be penciled in for a real clunker of a start every once in awhile. I think he is a fine guy to have in a rotation, but he might also be the type of "guy," that could be packaged in the right trade.
  15. Indeed, these are the things that get hammered out and debated in the final lease agreement - which takes time. But the MOU means taht both sides have agreed in principle to the broad outline and purposes. If anything it was a mistake for Moore to be so vocal about it because now he would bare all the responsibility if it fails meanwhile if it does fail Angelos gets hated? I mean he is already hated, and he would just leave and continue being rich in another state. Moore would see his political future take an absolutely massive hit. Both parties seem to want to get this done - no reason to think it wont.
  16. Agreed pretty much on all accounts here - save the Mullins deal, Im a little more hesitant than SG here. Cowser did himself no favors up here, I'm trying not to read into that too much but he seemed real overmatched and it never really clicked. Now that totally doesn't mean anything more than that simple fact, but is does give me some pause regarding letting Mullins go.
  17. Yeah, I mean the boys want to get together and read the book - good for them. Makes them feel good and gives them a sense of peace and good times? Awesome. I mean I don't care what the book is - the Bible? Tolkien? Its all good man so long as the actions you take from that fellowship are good and kind and add joy to the world. Good for them.
  18. There is a lot of quality SP on the market this offseason. Go get one.
  19. Yeah, the Dodgers are in a situation where they have won that division so much, and have only missed the playofffs 5 times in the last 20 years - with only 3 league titles and only 1 world series to show for it I could see their fans being upset by the season. Still, that would be a nice problem to have.
  20. The Orioles should be competitive for playoffs/division title next year. The AL East is as such that there are legitimately three teams that are vying for the title, and all five can make a case for a playoff run. Given that reality we can only control what we can control (we can't control how good Tampa is for instance) So, improve in the offseason, make the playoffs. The playoffs are a crap shoot, but win the regular season and give yourself a chance again.
  21. Would bring back: Fuji and Lopez Would consider bringing back: Gibson The rest can go.
  22. Frazier did exactly what he was supposed to do, be a competent enough ballplayer until guys like Westberg, Ortiz, et al proved they were ready for the big time. There is no doubt in my mind that Westberg will exceed Frazier's overall performance throughout the season. Frazier was this year's Odor, a guy who weirdly had a knack for coming through in a clutch situations and overall being a likeable guy. I think our biggest question is: "How real was O'Hearn?" Ryan's OPS was nearly 200 points lower in August-October than it was May-July. Regression to the mean? Are he and Mounty just forever platooning first base? Or is O'Hearn turning into a pumpkin and maybe we should think about moving him this offseason if the deal is right?
  23. I think Kjerstad can be Santander, eventually. Santander falls into that weird liminal zone of "pretty good, but not great, but not a liability either," Cowser looked really overmatched for his cup of coffee, that is just my eyes and he wouldnt be the first guy to have that happen to him but going into spring I think Cowser needs to put on a show to make the team. To Santander, what would he likely bring back in a trade? a couple minor league arms and some ML-level bullpen help? Is that worth it? I don't really know at this point. I think we need to have discussions regarding Hayes (whom I see Cowser "replacing,"). Mullins defense and offensive potential are enough to extend him until Bradfield grows through the minors. Santander might/ could get moved at the deadline if Kjerstad/ Cowser solidify their roles on the team. But I would tend to hold onto him for now.
  24. Especially in the playoffs and short series. To win 99+ games in the MLB is an accomplishment because it requires your team to be built for a marathon, but the playoffs are a sprint and inconsistencies and streaks get magnified in a big way. Given the Rangers' season it is entirely possible that they just forget how to hit in the ALCS though they are all seeing the ball remarkably well right now. Grayson and Dean had really solid second halves, they earned the right to get these starts, they chose really bad times to have bad games. The good news is that even if you account for "luck," as constructed this is a 90+ win team that will be competing for playoffs/ division titles for the next couple of years. We will be there again. I said it in another thread, there is very little you can "control," in a baseball season. The Orioles were in control of their own destiny and clinched a division title and won 101 games - nothing can take that away from them. The playoff are a new season, everything is zeroed out chaos reigns. They had a great year, its a shame it ended as it did. Get 'em next year.
  25. Well, if things go our way - Grayson might get a chance to redeem himself on Friday. Wouldn't that just beat all?
