  1. He isn’t awful in Right at Camden Yards because he knows it.
  2. Santander cannot play anything but right. He is not a natural athlete so he cannot adjust to left so he should DH at Fenway.
  3. It’s so nice to feel like the team that knows what it is doing. Greta ABs, throwing strikes, no chasing.
  4. Adley is a monster. He would have tried to pull that last year. Swing looks great. Uppercut isn’t as big.
  5. So many good at-bats. Nice to watch good baseball
  6. Do you think your confidence might take a hit if you repeatedly couldn't get out of the fourth in MLB games? Yes, it could be advantageous to the Orioles, but it also would be advantageous to them if he wins ROY or finishes second. If they were on the fence or didn't want him up, I don't know why they would create the expectation that he would be up. LOL at you pretending you care about the opinions of the established folks in the media.
  7. There is something to be said for building up a guy's confidence in the minors. They clearly wanted him up as they said it all winter. There is little reason to believe that this is anything but them wanting what they think is best for the team at the moment.
  8. Watching him, he didn't seem to get great jumps, but that could just be learning the pitchers. His Baseball Savant page shows not just elite top speed, but also elite acceleration. Gunnar Henderson Statcast, Visuals & Advanced Metrics | MLB.com | baseballsavant.com
  9. I tend to agree with this. I also find it funny though when players say it’s a business when it comes to asking for money, but take it personal when the team treats the arbitration like a business. I can’t say that’s for sure the case here. Maybe Burnes has indicated a willingness to take a discount with the team or has done so in some way and has a reason to expect the team to treat him a bit more like a family member. But the above does apply to plenty of players who are just looking for the most money, which is fine, just don’t get upset in that instance when the team treats you like an employee and not a family member.
  10. So your assumption is that if an agreement can’t be made between too people it is always the fault of both.?Sometimes the other side isn’t a rational actor. If you look at the various allegations being thrown about and the vitriol of Louie vs what JA has demonstrated in his stewardship it seems likely Louie isn’t a rational actor. Of course, there is some chance he is telling the truth.
  11. This seems a bit of a harsh take. JA hired Elias and gave him the go ahead on all of this. Louie starts fighting bout money and direction with JA. Surely this started behind the scenes vs in the open. At that point, JA has to do what he can to keep the franchise moving in the right direction with the knowledge that there could be funds issues due to litigation. This is going to lead to prioritizing which could put some other things on hold. I don’t see how that is JA’s fault. If your theory is JA isn’t willing to spend versus not able to, why haven’t Elias or Sig even hinted at that? Elias just built a great system. He could gat another GM job pretty easily. Sig also has plenty of places he could go. If they thought they were being unfairly hamstrung there would be some sort of leak or comment from them indicating this was a issue. Instead, there has been nothing which leads me to believe they know JA is doing what he can and are willing to wait for it to be sorted out.
  12. I think it’s pretty safe to say it is a degenerative type issue. Correa opted out, so he doesn’t have an active injury that wouldn’t allow him to play this year. Otherwise, he never would have opted out. Seems likely that he just believes whatever is going on with his leg will not hinder him much long term, while the clubs feel differently.
  13. it’s laughable when people get upset at Elias of all people for bringing some veterans in. This team has proven very penny conscious and data driven. Why do some people assume that these veterans moves are driven by anything other than a desire to win? No data driven team would spend money on these types of players unless they thought it helped. And it isn’t a money thing, since it would be cheaper just to play the young guys.
  14. As much as I like Burnes and this seems like a fair deal, I am not sure I would do it this year. The Orioles have a lot of guys that they need to find out about this year. Last year could have been a bit of a mirage record-wise. After this year, especially on the pitching side, they should have a much better idea of what they have and what they need. I also think most of the guys listed in this trade will become more valuable in the market and not less, so I wouldn’t be scared to wait a bit.
  15. Yeah, but would it be 5-4, 6-3, or 7-2 (assuming Alito and Thomas are the two)? I only say that because we don’t know exactly how close we are to to literalism gone wild.
  16. You are absolutely right. I forgot about Longoria. He is definitely the exception though.
  17. If the Orioles locked up Adley I would bet less than 50% of this board would be happy given his age and position. As for Gunnar, I can’t think of a non-Latin American player that extended before their first year was even complete.
  18. Would you go 7 years for Rodon at $30mm per as rumored?
  19. @Tony-OH Of the people signed by other teams, which do you wish the Orioles would have signed to the same contract? Who is left out there that you think the Orioles should be willing to sign?
  20. I have seen people push for Cuban to be the next owner, but Cuban isn’t a big spender. He repeatedly has avoided going over the luxury tax with the Mavs and that is part of why he let Jalen Brunson walk.
  21. I said 75 or below. I suspect they fall back a bit this coming season and next year is the year they really compete. It will be hard to duplicate the success of the bullpen again and some of the starters are bound to struggle. That said, I am fine with the way Elias is approaching things.
  22. Elias has the right idea. The system is loaded. You have to figure out what you have and not block people. They could use another starter maybe, but if you do then Kremer, Voth, Bradish, or Hall maybe never get a chance to show if they have it. The end of this coming year, they should have a much better idea of what they have.
  23. Got no issue with taking a chance on this guy. Dude broke in really young and is younger than you would think. It takes talent to break in that young, sometimes you have to hit bottom before you are willing to make changes.
