  1. There were definitely times where his swing looked slow, too big, and too much of an uppercut. No one doubted the catching though. The concern is he wouldn’t be a star, and they needed a star especially out of that draft that is going to have a lot of stars.
  2. They have to fix Mountcastle. If it’s the ebbs and flows of the season, at least he should flow in September.
  3. If we had Lopes, he would be out. We need Hall or G-Rod up for the pen.
  4. Remarkable what the Orioles have done with this pitching staff. I love that we can develop guys.
  5. I don’t know what is more ridiculous that the Hays homes was less than 400 feet and looked like a monster shot, or that it probably is barely out at Camden Yards.
  6. The one thing I would like to see is the players in the minors answering what the Orioles are telling them in terms of what they need to do in order to get promoted. For example, a guy like Henderson is going to be a lot more understanding about not being promoted if he was told going into AAA that they wanted his K-rate below a certain level and hit lefties at a certain rate and he isn't doing it. No way for me to know, but I almost get the impression that with Hall they brought him up in part to just show him he isn't ready yet. Perhaps they were getting some pushback from him. I have no inside knowledge but his command and control clearly were lacking in the minors.
  7. At least in the late innings he will and I am fine with that.
  8. Between him , Beavers, and Fabian, the top of the draft has looked really good. And don’t look now, but Carter Young is hitting .400
  9. Part of it is clearly footwork, but the arm isn’t very impressive.
  10. Vavra’s attempts to turn 2 in the seventh show you why Odor was getting so much okaying time. He doesn’t have much of an arm.
  11. Probably not consistently but surely more than 3 times in 40 AB.,
  12. I love how selective he is but am starting to wonder if the word doesn't just get out to just challenge him as he isn't going to really hurt you.
  13. The plan was it was going to be Hall in this spot. Unfortunately, they found out he isn’t ready. Now we have to scrounge until he gets ready.
  14. orioles need to get Grayson fixed and in the pen. I don’t trust DL to throw strikes.
  15. Really stupid to take Perez out. He has been good all year.
  16. Give me an example of proof he gets talking points.
  17. It seems that you are the one speculating. What evidence do you have that Hyde makes the calls re: who plays how much vs. the front office? What is your basis for believing that this is a Hyde issue vs. Elias issue? Do you really think the stats you are citing and reports are superior to what the Orioles have access to? Do you really believe that if they were equal on defense given Vavra's obvious superiority on offense that Elias would simply allow Hyde to do what he wants?
  18. They like Hyde, but they aren't letting him run the show. The Astros, the Nationals, and nearly every other tear down team has gotten rid of the manager that started with the team and then subbed him. Hyde looks like he could survive, but he would be just surviving. There is no chance that Elias et al doesn't have an opinion and Hyde isn't following their opinion.
  19. People really need to chill on this being some sort of Hyde thing. Elias runs this team. If they thought Vavra was the better option at second, that is where he would be playing. While people on this board might look at Odor and think he isn't any better than Vavra in the field, you can bet that this team which is all about metrics has a metric backing up that assertion.
  20. Pretty obvious the book on him is to throw him breaking balls. He does chase but fouls off a surprising number of them. Would like to see him shorten up a bit with 2 strikes. Maybe he is just anxious and the discipline will improve.
