  1. They are losing now and if that holds they'd be the same 24-35 as us. If we win tomorrow (25-35) and they lose (24-36), they would pick before us. Unless I'm missing something (again) our range is still 3-6.
  2. Rockies losing would be better, Arizona has a worse record. I think Colorado losing out we'd tie. But Detroit and Boston holding on would help. Nice to see Nats win too.
  3. Yeah, I was looking at wins only. Didn't realize they had 4 to play. edit: I have to laugh. The page you referenced from fansince is the link I posted one page earlier.
  4. With who is playing who, I think it'll be one position, but I guess we'll see.
  5. Detroit has a 2 game lead on us and the only team to win a tiebreaker based on last years record. So I'm pretty sure 4th is the highest option now. Sitting at 6th. I think nats get 1 more at least and think 5th is looking fairly likely.
  6. After last night 6th. My guess is nats find a way to tie us and we finish 5th. Lots can happen (someone broke down says to go as early as 3 and as late as 10. Based on all the scenarios, 5 to 7 seems fairly likely.
  7. I agree to a point. Losing the Akin/Kremer games and winning the Cobb game is less satisfying at this point. I will say the season has felt better (whether real or not). Losing out and getting the 3rd overall pick would make it feel like it wasn't real, just a weird outcome in a shortened season. We are certainly seeing some cracks that would make a full 162 be closer to 2018/2019 vs the 20-21 we were sitting at a short while ago. Still glad to see it with young guys that can/will contribute going forward.
  8. I get that there is things this team is trying to do and that may not 100% fit with Mancini. There are moves like Villar that aren't fun as a fan, but I totally understand the need for that type of move. I don't with Mancini. Based on cost it shouldn't be hard to keep him and play him a lot (if his body is ready for that). Even if only for one more year, I want to root for this guy as an Oriole. https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/i-am-so-lucky-trey-mancini-orioles-cancer
  9. https://www.talkingchop.com/2020/6/10/21284545/2020-mlb-draft-order-draft-pools-bonus-values https://www.mlb.com/news/2019-mlb-draft-pools-and-bonus-values The ability to spend changes by 3 million (2019 and 2020 fairly close in that drop). Whether the strategy was necessary, good, stupid, whatever... that money was still used (most of it). It'll take years to know about the overslots worthiness, but they shouldn't be discounted.
  10. http://www.tankathon.com/mlb http://www.tankathon.com/mlb/remaining_schedule_strength These stay up to date and I like the SOS tracker. Was thinking Boston dropped to 4th with the win, but they lost 1 more than Arizona last year and have the tie-breaker. It was fun having more to root for this year, but now that we are officially eliminated, guess it's time for this thread. Here's to hoping we'll still be pulling for playoff chances next September!
  11. When the season ends, do they shut down the development camp? The push may be to give the team/coaches a week to actually see them and make plans for the offseason (whatever that ends up looking like).
  12. For international slots? Uh oh... edit: and here I thought I'd be fast enough. Hahahahaha edit 2: another 2018 draft pick.
  13. So 250, 275 and 300k bonus guys, international and 17 yo. SS and CF. I think Mike Elias has a type. 2018/2019 draftees for non-international targets. Any more SS/CF guys in that range that played for the Braves or Astros? Haha edit: 2018 J2 signings, https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2018-mlb-international-signings-tracker/ Braves limited, so going http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=682853#/career/R/hitting/2020/ALL ($300k bonus, might be high for Milone with a second player...but I have little to no gauge for these young guys). Astros have lots of options from 2018, but http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=682695#/career/R/hitting/2020/ALL
  14. Obviously, I can not confirm nor deny, but being players not on the 60 man that requirement should be unlikely. Combined with how many 2018 - 2019 draft guys that seem to be Elias targets, I really would be surprised if any were. Now watch it be all 6 to spite me...but I just don't think it makes sense.
  15. https://www.mlb.com/player/parker-bridwell-592170 Didn't the same thing happen the first year with this guy? That didn't last, but I see it's a injury.
  16. Could even be international slots, who knows. I could see an international player option or pool money. Do we know if leagues (DR, Venezuela, Mexico) are playing? Maybe scouts are in place to evaluate a few players and ME can choose slots or from a small player list. I don't really see anything on those leagues and I don't know if MLB has authority to control baseball being played in other countries.
  17. This, combine with my last post makes an interesting thought. Means wasn't a top 100 guy, but clearly did well. For every Means, there are a dozen washouts (maybe more, using no math here...). It goes to a quality/quantity argument, but trading for another teams #10 and it being our #20 is exciting. Some of the 20-30 will (hopefully) surprise us and have production on par with a top 100. Also...below would be nice to see in the future. Deep enough to trade for talent and still have a solid ranking/top level talent. https://www.mlb.com/news/2020-midseason-farm-systems-rankings
  18. For those asking about PTBNL. There is a bit more in the article, but this is the meat of it. Elias hasn't confirmed, but it seems he already knows the players and it would make sense it was part of the trade negotiation. I think sometimes it can be a list of a few guys and determined later, but that wouldn't make much sense if those guys aren't playing baseball right now. With no minors, there are no trades for players that aren't on the 60 man pool for 2020. So I would assume, these players that fall into teams 20+ prospect range that have not been added. Based on trades we have seen the ME style and the fact these guys aren't on the 60 man pool, they are likely younger and/or international players. I personally think these PTBNL will fall into the 20-40 range for us and not necessarily impact the overall ranking much, while still giving us a deeper system (guess it depends if rankings are quality or quantity driven, sure they all vary a bit). If we find guys that develop in line with the plan, these lower level guys may change that in the future, but we will need to have minor league season to see it. Now if a PTBNL ranks 10-15 for us maybe it's different, I just don't know how many of those guys wouldn't be on a 60 man pool right now. https://www.masnsports.com/school-of-roch/2020/08/elias-on-trades-departed-players-and-status-of-rebuild.html
  19. Thanks, in my head today I was thinking Super 2 is fewer years of Arb. I think it's time to go home today.
  20. https://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2020/04/13/baltimore-orioles-mlb-lowest-payroll-chris-davis-alex-cobb/ If they find a way to trade Cobb, the active roster payroll will be like ~60-70% Davis. Wonder if anything like it has ever happened.
  21. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/baltimore-orioles/payroll/2021/ Here's a list that shows. Bryan Holaday listed as Arb 4. Any one even know what that means?
  22. If 2-3 are exciting I'll be happy. After the Cashner trade, I wonder about 2 guys for Milone. Some we may need to turn on the binoculars to see the long term value. Now it just sucks we have to wait, but at least it will make November more interesting.
  23. 29 PTBNL. Orioles leading the way with 6. Mets owe another 3 to Texas. Since it's been mentioned a bunch, Conine (Villar trade) was listed lower than all 3 guys we officially got back.
  24. And I do hope the PTBNL reflects that. edit: Speaking of, looks like Nov 1 (WS game 7 could be as late as Oct 31) will be the first day these names could be announced. I see this article that broke down the A's players (looking for something else). Would be interesting to see who could be coming, but that could be a lot of work. But here's to a good November ? https://www.athleticsnation.com/2020/8/28/21405993/mlb-trade-deadline-2020-player-to-be-named-later-ptbnl Also will be curious later how the other 6 fit on a list like this: https://www.mlb.com/news/top-prospects-traded-before-mlb-trade-deadline
